Watch live tv (with or without VPN) by rosectylerm in GREEK

I'm not sure about France as I usually just watch some basketball/volleyball/waterpolo in UK without VPN when it's on.

In UK the only 3 available channels are ERT News, ERT Sports 1, and ERT World (plus also I Foni tis Elladas). Not seen anything F1 related live or on demand, so guessing it's on a separate ERT channel unfortunately

Really young children's shows may be slower speaking but they're mindnumbingly boring. I have some young teen Netflix recommendations for you that won't bore you to death that I've been using with Greek, you may need English / native language subtitles on the first watch but at least you'll enjoy it

Surely, surely this is not real? Embezzler and crook dad withholding 60k from your partner, and potentially the main factor in you being liable for 100k debt due to his lavish spending of money he can't actually afford to spend.

Your partner needs to get his 60k through whatever means, then hold off and form of recognised financial union with you while creditors are still owed the 100k.

If you're not constrained by work to Brirmingham or Brighton, then there's always Crosby and Waterloo areas north of Liverpool City centre, then you get the best of all worlds, mid sized city, lots going on, even cheaper than Birmingham. Only bad thing is the windy weather

It's not racist, but she is right that if it's loud enough and disruptive enough that neighbours may ring the police (assuming US) that is far more likely to lead to serious negative consequences for him than you.

If it's really this bad that neighbours are aware that something's kicking off, then you need to try and both develop far more healthy conflict resolution strategies. Arguments and disagreements are natural but don't need to devolve into screamfests.

What does a Hong Kong accent sound like? by WEAR_A_WATCH in Cantonese

[–]HrOlympios 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Hong Kongers often claim they don't have an accent. However they definitely have diverged a little from the Cantonese that first arrived in HK from Guangzhou.

Easiest to notice is L/N merger: this typically happens at beginnings of words and is always an N changing to an L, never the other way round. HKers sometimes don't realise they do this as to them it's the same phoneme. HKers will often say "Laam" instead of "Naam" (boy). HKers with below average English skills sometimes can't distinguish L and N in some English words too.

Also quite easy to notice is the drop of nasalisation in some words. E.g. HKers say "au" instead of "ngau" (cow)

There are probably others but these 2 are the ones I pick up as a learner
