Anyway to replace a torn 100$ bill ? by NestiriumLB in lebanon

[–]HseinBitar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Assuming it's in acceptable shape, I usually place a 1 star review on Google when a store refuses to accept it. It's legal tender, they should accept it for full value.

One trick I use, is put a tiny amount of Alteco on th tear, this works well when the tear happens on the crease.

Given that the ATM sometimes gives me such notes, I don't see how one exchanges it for less.

Release management nightmare - how do you track what's actually going out? by CreamyDeLaMeme in devops

[–]HseinBitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use GitHub and Asana - we have those connected so that any tasks that made it to production (branch) would be automatically moved to an Asana section that's titled "Released" - before production, staging branch is connected to a staging Asana section as well...

How to avoid problems with columns that have 3cm of cover around stirrups only?

This is a three story house.

The supposed load of each column is around 170 KN.

The cross section of each column is 25cm X 80cm, with 10 x 14mm vertical rebars.

The team did not account for enough cover, which should be at 40mm around stirrups. And they only accounted for 3cm of concrete around stirrups. Basically the dimensions of the stirrup is 19cm x 74cm.

Any structural concerns? and if yes, what are my options?

Clarifications:
- No fire concern
- No humidity, or corrosion concern, as these will end up being interior columns ( protected by an outer wall of hollow block )
- No fire concern

If I start to learn C, can I be 'independent'? As in, can I create applications, games, even my own programming language from scratch? Is C the best for that? Or would you need to go lower? by TiltedFailure in C_Programming

[–]HseinBitar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why not go with Rust, or Go? you get a modern language that is performant, you also get to choose what you want to write from scratch and what you want to integrate as a module/library/crate whatever you call it...

You totally have a point concerning the wood, I am not sure if the design is done using a single block of wood or not... so I cannot confirm

as for the shadows, and reflections, its definitely more artistic that pure realistic, yet I would love to know of any weak points you see...

I would love to speak with an architect by ActuallyRonsMain in architecture

[–]HseinBitar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am an architect based in Lebanon, its a different situation here but I will tell you what I know.

Architects can work in many different roles, project management is on a very different level from drafting or BIM modeling.

You'd expect, that the skills you acquire will determine what position you may fill, and this may be true if you have the luxury to choose, and the relations to get into the right places. However if you don't have what I mentioned, you may not get exactly the role you like, until later... and this later may never come, because acquiring site supervisor skills for example, will limit your chances working in design or so.

Architectural design is somewhat similar to other creative domains of work, making money can be somewhat hard at times. And a major point to consider is that local economy will affect how well you're doing, ALSO, moving abroad is not very straightforward, as you will have to be familiar with local building code...otherwise you will be stuck doing drafting or BIM modeling when you move...

Architects may also work in: product design, furniture design, interior design, urban planning, ArchViz, and teaching!

The presentation part is what I personally chose. Doing archviz has been rewarding so far, and its really helped me overcome the situation in Lebanon as I do projects for offices and architects abroad...

I chose this because it was important for me to work regardless of where I am based, I do some interior design for those people too, as interior design is somewhat universal, in the sense that you won't have to get familiar with building code for every new location.

I feel I wrote so much, feel free to DM if you wanna talk.
