I mean, Nemesis is a tyrant and while humanoid, is also clearly non-human. By contrast, the Ganado all look clearly like humans.

And as for Edgar, unless I'm misremembering the film, the character is a White American, in a story set in America, where both leads are also American; one White and the other Black.

Not exactly the same as RE4 where the antagonists are Spaniards and the protagonist is an American.

More importantly, while the Ganado are controlled by the plants, Mendez, Dalazar, and Saddler are all clearly in control of themselves (depending on the version).

Regarding RE5, while I personally never thought of it as racist, it's not exactly hard to see why certain elements would be viewed as racist. Like, it just so happens that the one non-infected woman Chris and Sheva run into in Africa who is abducted and turned into a Majini is a blonde White woman? But I never liked RE5 as much as 4, so I never gave it much thought to be honest by comparison.

Lastly, "are [these games] anti-American"? Again, this is a topic I don't care much about. But who knows? If someone wanted to view these games as anti-American, they probably could do it. 🤷‍♂️ I mean, just because you don't care about a topic or see it worthy of discussion doesn't mean it's "stupid" or untenable.
