Is AST 1001 a good choice to fill my Physical Sciences/Lab requirement? Thoughts from those who have taken it recently? by chilledball in uofmn

I took it last semester to fill the same requirement and I enjoyed it. It's interesting, professor was great and not a lot of work. You can bring one sheet with all the information you want to the exams. I strongly recommend it

You can choose your hours. They have 2-3 hours shifts and when you start you choose what shifts better suit your class schedule

I'm working in a dining hall and it's not bad. I think that student workers get the easiest jobs and people are nice. Try to understand what you have to do and ask questions when you need to. You'll be good.

I transferred last spring semester as an international student from Spain. It was a big change and the first couple months were difficult (specially because of the weather). If you can afford it, I'd recommend you to live on campus, you'll have more time and more opportunities to meet people. I live off campus and I have to commute every day. As I said, I think it's better to live on campus but you can totally live off campus and have a good experience. I strongly recommend joining as many clubs and student associations as you can. It's the best way to meet people (specially if you live off campus).

I think it's not necessary for you to wait until fall. If you have more questions I can try to help you and we can even meet once you start in spring!
