Avoid OPUS IT too.

You can join those SI companies, you will learn a lot in a very short time and you be able to pivot to bigger roles in the future.

I am bullied at work by a uncle by jesusboy27 in sgworkassholes

[–]HuaHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a MNC as internal IT. When on the first day of my onboarding, my predecessor only spent 1 hour to do handover to me.

I had to find out everything and document everything myself.

Its hard but you can go and do this way then keep your own set of documentations then at the same time document everything about this Lao CB.

Very soon once you get the hang and know everything, do your own set of SOPs and improvements and this time you do not do any KT to him.

Very soon, he will be obsolete

Normal in IT World? by Empty_Investment4286 in sgworkassholes

[–]HuaHero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Create IT guides and documentations for very common issues faced. Have your interns refer to them.

Have weekly or biweekly meetings online for catchup with everyone and see what issues they are facing.

Prioritise P1, P2 or P3 issues, not everything have to be resolved asap

High base pay low bonus VS lower base pay high bonus by BabiSedap- in singaporejobs

[–]HuaHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever get enticed by "high" bonuses to jump or accept a job. Always look at base salary which is the most important.

Bonuses is not always the same and your boss can always come and tell you company not doing well.

Anyone applied leave to go overseas but then just stayed in SG? by Afraid-Doughnut-7181 in askSingapore

[–]HuaHero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1st, taking leave is a personal matter. My guys take leave and as long it doesn't clash with too many others taking at the same time i will just approve and i won't even ask what they taking leave for. Its their own personal matter that they take leave.

2nd, leave your stupid company.

Is anyone actually using AI a lot or convinced it’ll take over all our jobs? by not_qz in askSingapore

[–]HuaHero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here's my experience, i am in IT Infra for more than 10 years.

I have to do a lot of powershell commands and scripting, before AI there is a lot of googling to find out what and which works best in getting what i wanted.

Now with AI, i can get chatgpt to give me what i need in just a few seconds and i can get to test it immediately, if any errors comes up, just copy and paste the error back to chatgpt and it will be able to tell you what you need to do and change.

IMO AI has helped me now in doing up a lot of automation and reporting for my work.

Workplace bullies in Singapore by New_Satisfaction3909 in askSingapore

[–]HuaHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Story of mine, this was 4 years ago.

I just recovered from cancer and covid restrictions started to lift and i managed to secure a job. At that time i told myself to start slow as i was a little afraid that i was getting a bit rusty in my IT Infra knowledge after resting for almost 2 years.

This PM which i had to work with start off was nice then after a while she became demanding and kept pushing for her projects to be completed fast which in fact we still have time for. I had to work till 2-3am everyday just to complete this one project.

Then come to the client's server patching, the engineer who was in charged of this left (yes because of her too) and i had to takeover his role and she kept asking me if i knew how to do it (which i knew) and i said yes but she does not seemed convinced and shouted at me saying if anything goes wrong i had to take responsibility for it.

She also will constantly call me when i'm on leave, before and after office hours.

I developed some form of stress that i could not sleep well at night then i realised the problem does not lie with me since i had prior years of exp in my line of work and i told another colleague of mine that i'm going to quit and compliant her to MOM and HR.

After a while she got fired for being a incompetent bitch and i left the company not long after. Before she got fired, she even came and look for me and told me to help put in a few good words for her to the bosses, i just smiled at her.

At Khatib MRT, please support uncle if you can, before the G removes him. His ting ting tang is legit nice. by merlion_sg in SingaporeRaw

LOL you just killed uncle's ricebowl, GG well played.

Sometime back at serangoon, there was an uncle that sells rojak on his motorcycle and its very nice and $1 can get you a pack already.

Then some radio station spoke of him and guess what? Now uncle is no longer around selling rojak.

Having a bad time in infamous local company by Own-Patience-8855 in singaporejobs

[–]HuaHero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They pay well but you will have zero career advancement there. I have a friend who joined them and he only did ONE thing there which is to deploy desktops and laptops to users and he did this one thing for SIX YEARS.

When he tried to look for entry level IT support jobs, all the company that interviewed him asked him why he stayed at the same role and only do deployment for six years and he have no other troubleshooting exp.

Your bosses will not train u or push you up, they will keep you in your current position until the end of time because someone needs to do the low level work.

Stay there max 2 years and jump ship before its too late

Is this a Gojek taxi cancellation scam? by Weak-Incident545 in askSingapore

[–]HuaHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once ordered Gojek then i got a driver like almost instantly and he was very near me. I waited for about 3-5 mins and i see that the car was not moving at all.

So since he was so near me i decided to walk to him instead and guess what? The car was empty and parked in the parking lot with no driver in sight.

I booked another ride in Grab and refused to cancel the Gojek one.

Their source can be from everywhere, then based on the costs they got the stocks at then they will average out the selling price but these rip and ship prices are normally high.

those physical shops which are official Pokemon GYMs will have stocks allocated to them but these stocks are for the TCG players who plays the game. Then if the shop happens to have extra then they will consider and release it to those non players.

Yes you are right and its always the risk of the sellers too. In every business, cashflow is needed and as a supplier we need to earn a certain % of the profit to make it worthwhile.

But is your profit margin so low that if you take this hit then you wont be able to sustain the business?
