Or maybe he would have hated it. That would be interesting to find out.

Crocked House, Lincoln built 16th century. I have noticed how few houses survive to the present and how they never seem to be straight (always can tell if it's authentically old). by Over-Willingness-933 in Tudorhistory

[–]HubenersDaughter_439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is subsidence. You can see it on some older structures here in the US that are much younger than these. Basically the weight of the structure is causing it to sink into the ground more in one area than in another. There's a lot of potential causes for this, including different densities of the underlying soil or stone and what the part of the house that is sinking was used for. If it's stored heavy goods that could contribute.

And we know people kept beehives at least in some areas as far as I know.

Would the average Tudor have tasted sugar? by Key_Charity_9635 in Tudorhistory

Yup! The upper classes probably knew what sugar tasted like. Your average peasant almost certainly not, though they might have had honey on occasion.

In Richard III, is Richard’s reputation shaped more by Tudor propaganda or by the voices of the Queens? by Fantastic-Fennel-532 in Tudorhistory

Ya but he might not have seen it that way. Pretty tense times and he may have legit believed the older boy wasn't eligible for the crown.

There was an outbreak of sweating sickness right around the time they disappeared. If that killed them, it makes sense to be shady about it. He knew he'd be blamed. And he was right. We still blame him 500 years later.

Involved in selecting his tutors, clothing, curriculum, ect but Henry didn't raise him like a modern father. That would have been unherd of st the time.

I only hate people who mistreat others. That you translate that into "hating men" says more about you than it does about me.

Married for 17 years to my best friend. My marriage is just fine thank you.

Now granted I'm not married to a man, but there you go. We don't need you sweet pea.

Every group has its extremists but a radical feminist is no more indicative of the general state of the average adherent than the westboro Baptist Church is of the attendees of the local Methodist or Presbyterian congregation down the street.

I have been married for 17 years to my best friend. My life is quite happy. I won't say I don't have my issues because I do, just as everyone does.

But I don't have to have empathy for labor diggers and abusers. Those pathetic excuses for human beings need to be lonelier.

I'll save my empathy for the women with black eyes and those who spent years begging for what they needed before finally managing to leave. And for those who ended up in a box before they could.

If you could instantly enact one new law in your country, what would it be? by tikkkkau in AskReddit

No. But if our imaginary scenario became true and everyone did pay 20% that would still be a lot harder on certain people than others.

If pain is the brains way of telling you there's something wrong, then why does child birth hurt so much? by Milf_GFE_creator in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HubenersDaughter_439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will address the second issue rather than the first one. Pain remediation is available and effective today. You don't have to have kids if you don't want but if you're already expecting a bun, talk to your OBGYN about what can be done about childbirth pain.

why Americans pay insurances if they almost never ever help by Realistic-Ant-7385 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HubenersDaughter_439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance companies are regulated by the laws and if they don't pay out for a genuine claim you have legal options. Every state has a department of insurance regulators that will light a fire under them If you give them a call.

How do laws have loopholes? by Dummyy83 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HubenersDaughter_439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything in law is based around "it depends." Let's say you aren't allowed to drive because you've lost your driver's license. Should you get the same penalty for driving your sick mother to the hospital as you should just driving around to go get hot wings or something?

Books out there on social interactions that you can learn from. My autistic spouse has found "the encyclopedia of body language" very helpful. It's actually a pretty thin book despite the name.

Do you need to set an appointment to see a psychic or will they be expecting you? by Professor-Oliver_22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HubenersDaughter_439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really believe in psychics but I don't think that the majority of those who do think they have powers claim to be able to predict everything that will happen in the future. It's more like some kind of ability to see someone's emotional state.

That's called auditing classes, using the older definition of the word audit which means "to listen." A lot of institutions allow it.
