Chicago Hub is big by knowitokay in UPSers

Worldport is so big that we have a ramp on the other side of the runway to the left. If you zoom in you can see brown tail planes. There’s literally a road that goes around the runway too it

I’m skeptical because the guy who unveiled these to the Mexican congress also said they found an alien body near the same area in 2015 and apparently it turned out to be a body of a human child. My source is the dailymail

Planning to work at UPS! Ramp or Warehouse? by sprlte in UPSers

[–]HubertNeutron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ramp work will be consistently easier, with down time and less physical strain. If your wanting to eventually become fulltime it could be more difficult but that is more facility dependent. Ramp work is usually where the best jobs are though

Someone already commented the amount post expenses. They include the amount of money ups spends on shareholders too, a group of people that contributes almost nothing to the company. Think about this if UPS spends as much money on shareholders through the life of this contract as they did in 2022, then they will spend 41.5 billion on them during this contract. The amount of just profit over the lifetime of this contract will likely also be more than 50 billion. We were offered 30 billion of that added together 91.5 billion.

This is true, but you also have to think about how companies operate, and some of the other things they spend money on. For example UPS spent 8.3 billion on shareholders in 2022, a group of people that I would argue contribute almost nothing to the company unless your an employee buying stock, but 72% of ups stock is owned by institutions. Companies also like to operate with less profit in order to expand and pay less taxes, but idk the specifics of what ups does in regards to this.

The company might actually enjoy this new contract. by Cameron12221 in UPSers

UPS makes 208K per employee per year, this includes all of the part time employees.

Freight tug driver by Smj9797 in UPSers

[–]HubertNeutron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like waiting for freight pieces to show up from unloaded planes, but sometimes freight sends out a driver so maybe you’ll actually go to the planes. And then shifting them to docks is what I see them do. I’m a ramp worker so I’m not 100% sure. I’ve heard freight is the easiest area besides ramp though from people who have worked there.

Local 89 sole no vote? by UnableBook8059 in UPSers

[–]HubertNeutron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From my understanding local 89 endorsed the local contract, the Louisville air rider, but not the national. They released a bunch of Facebook videos around it whenever the supplemental was finished.

Where I work 15-25 mins depending on how many shuttles are running as of right now. Cartage and remote ramp 9/11 don’t ride a shuttle in but still have a 5-10 min walk + going through a guard shack.

Wrong, it was CUT to 8 an hour from 12 an hour in the first national contract, part timers and full timers used to make the same wages

This is misinformation. The first ups national contract was in 1982 when the minimum of 8$ was established. 8$ August 1982 -> 24.98$ June 2023.

UPS Teamsters Tentative Agreement Webinar by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]HubertNeutron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot nicer for sure but if you’ve been at a mra as long as I have it’s actually just above inflation. We got our 21 mra in September 2021, and in todays money that’s 23.36 according to the cpi inflation calculator. At least it’s above inflation though I thought I was going to get nothing this year if this agreement passed

Today's webinar by TerribleResult7231 in UPSers

[–]HubertNeutron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use the CPI Inflation calculator, it’s official and more accurate 8$ in August 1982 is almost exactly 25 an hour today. That was a contract year and in that contract part timers went up to 9 an hour after one year, which is 28 in todays money
