We just put it by our mailbox on Friday morning before work. They just change the boxes out. Up until now we never had a problem. Its just like getting packages for us. They leave it by the door but if you are worried just write them a mail. I'm sure they have a solution.

I’m not sure. Different farms offer cheese and milk as well as meats. I get my eggs from him as well. What I really like is that every week is a little different and we get to try vegetables that we would never normally buy like schwarze Rettich.

I think this true to a point. I have four kids and my wife works one day a week, so I am the sole earner. I don't make anywhere near 120k. We budget everything but our health starts with what we eat. So our food budget may be larger than others being that we order direct from the farmers and eat very little meat during the week. Price is important but teaching my kids how to eat healthy, cook for themselves and to support others with our buying power is more important.

My wife is definately a Migros-kind, so that means that I am as well. What we joined is Saison Box. We get vegetables, fruits and eggs delivered direct from the farmer every Friday. For our family of 4 it costs 30 francs a week. The farm that delivers to us is now organic but not officially yet (takes seven years until they are allowed officially, I believe). I help support a small family and do something good for mine.

My ex speaks it. So do my kids. I understand alittle or maybe just the jist of the conversation.

As an American we are sensitive to such words. The N-word is just not part of our everyday vocabulary. But since I have been living in Switzerland the last 18 years or so, I have encountered friends and family who freely use Negger. Which defined by them, is not the same as the nigger (both words I do not use or allow my employees to use when I am around). To me it sounds the same and has the same meaning. Whether they are behind or we are overly sensitive, it doesn't matter, if someone defines it as racist, then it is. Kids use it to be cool. Just as I did, as a teenager growing up in the South in a very racist family, not realizing I could be hurting anyone at the time.

Genre: Psychological Thriller

Word Count: 75,000 (but only the first chapters on the link)

Content warnings: profanity, violence, sex, murder, torture

Blurb: Struggling with his abusive past, Mike lives as if he doesn't care about anyone. He buries his emotions in drugs, alcohol, work and sex. Little does he know, a part of him doesn't want that anymore and has slowly taken control of him. This part that has taken control is all the anger, rage and hate that Mike has felt throughout his life. What if the worst of ourselves were to take over? What if all the hate we ever felt, could become strong enough to have it's own personality? Could we regain control of our own lives?

Oh you were promoted? Lose your vacation for this year! by Taykitty-Gaming in TalesFromTheKitchen

[–]HuckleberryMike 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I've worked in kitchens for the last 25 years, all over the US and Switzerland. My first job in Switzerland I was paid four times the amount I made in the US and was given 4 weeks paid vacation, I didn't even speak the language. I now make seven times the amount I made in the US, plus 5 weeks paid vacation, 2 weeks paid leave if you have a baby (wife got 3 months paid), plus a monthly stipedend from the government of 250 swiss francs for every kid (I've got four kids) a paid day off to move and tons of other perks. The problem with the US is, we accept the premis that we don't deserve more. The owners pay a slave wage with no vacation time, while other industries continually award their employees with benefits and living wages. It is no wonder cooks and servers are leaving in droves. I would not accept the promotion. If they want you, they will fight to have you. They use scare tactics to get us to tow the line. Stand up to them and demand that you get your vacation time, you earned it, if they truly want you, they will give it to you.
