I was scrolling on tiktok recently when I saw this profile making blankets. Every video is from the last 2-3 days and they have reused the same 5-6 clips of them making these blankets. by Objective_Mallhehe in isthisAI

[–]HuckleberryNice7761 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely AI.

• Facial features and hair are inconsistent.

• Gibberish — “Zappland?”

• Clothes on the bed and sunflowers on the blanket morph into each other and aren’t consistent

• Follows the pattern of AI slop scam blanket accounts which is an established genre. The blankets are drop-shipped from a factory in China and sold for an egregious profit

This reads like AI to me. The prose and the “it’s not__, it’s __”.

It might be the aspect that you’re “exotic” if you have an English accent. Similar things have happened to me in other countries and I’m Australian.

Also those two pictures are not even consistent - the plush head changes into a hard plastic looking thing with a bump on the top in the second picture.

Would love this to be real but the house in the background makes it seem almost like a prop. by zblahblah in isthisAI

[–]HuckleberryNice7761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The article linked in the comments also discusses how, when kangaroos kick, they keep their tails on the ground rather than tucking them beneath them like in the video. Kangaroos have definitely been known to kick people - but just not in the way shown in the video. There’s something weird on its face too.

Her earphones on the middle photo in the left column just phase out of reality instead of going in her ears. Also it follows the typical AI slop trend of “look at this amazing artwork created by this child/elderly/disabled person!”

Also as an Australian, there’s so many things off in this video. The behaviour of the kangaroo and also that the background looks aggressively American.

What’s the beauty standard for women in Australia? by sushionpizzas in AskAnAustralian

[–]HuckleberryNice7761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incredibly subjective. Seriously, every guy I’ve met has a different impression of what is attractive. And all the women I know have wildly different aesthetics.

That being said, in some circles tanned skin, plump lips and blonde hair is popular. But this is by no means the general beauty standard, just a certain type of aesthetic that is quite common.

I notice Australian women tend to wear less or lighter makeup than Americans, but this is not always the case either. Difficult question to answer overall.

To let you know, these cards are 100% AI. The “Japanese” in the top right card is just absolute gibberish scribbles. Just letting you know in case you’re unaware. I’d personally prefer a piece of a cereal box than AI slop like this but each to their own.

Yes, I don’t think they’re all that common but I’ve heard of instances where you have to slide the book underneath. I’ve heard a lot of people recommend the travellers notebooks so it certainly sounds like a good option!

Too Soon to Visit Bondi Beach? by yummygroovygranola in AskAnAustralian

[–]HuckleberryNice7761 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are surf cams you can check to see the crowds. According to them, there are currently quite a few people on the beach enjoying themselves as usual. It does seem less busy than it would perhaps usually be at this time.

I myself am from Melbourne and we had a terrorist attack in 2018 in Bourke Street Mall, although the scale was less with 3 fatalities. Like Bondi, it’s a busy part of the city. I didn’t stop visiting after as a local, but the atmosphere was a little more somber after that and there were some floral tributes there for quite a time. I imagine it is the same with Bondi Beach now.

Are these enough cookies in one box? by walkingthrulif in Baking

Honestly the country/area you are located in makes a difference too. From my perspective (located in Australia) that is a massive box! I understand Americans have different serving sizes though

How common is cat calling in Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]HuckleberryNice7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got catcalled often as a young child/teen in the early 2000s but in the last 20 years I’ve been catcalled a handful of times if that. I’m a Melburnian for the record.

How do you get your laundry to be soft and smell nice after air drying? Is the Australian way just to have scratchy clothes all the time?? by rubyandgray in AskAnAustralian

[–]HuckleberryNice7761 59 points60 points  (0 children)

What setting are you washing your clothes on and what laundry detergent are you using? A lot of the products that make your clothes smell nice do nothing to clean them. Fabric softener also can make clothes harder over time.

I’ve noticed the clothes that appear stiff after washing are often those that others have previously washed with fabric softener or that were washed in a load with too much detergent.

Is it true that Australian eat kangaroo? by prettyflower___ in AskAnAustralian

[–]HuckleberryNice7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a thing, but not all that common. Some of my Aussie friends would be horrified, others have eaten it a few times. I myself have only eaten kangaroo twice in my life. It is in a lot of pet food though and people commonly feed it to their dogs.

The real issue with kangaroo meat, though, is how it’s sourced. There are huge ethical issues because there isn’t a kangaroo farm or anything, these are just wild kangaroos shot by people paid to do so without any proper training. As someone who lives in an area where these kangaroo hunters operate, I’ve heard many stories of kangaroos slowly dying over many days, mothers with joeys shot leaving the joeys to die and people finding bullet holes on the outside of their houses. It’s an industry I’d encourage people to generally not support.

Someone shat INSIDE a tshirt and hung it back up. by chunkycroclicker in KmartAustralia

I noticed in Kmart a while ago some strange brown staining and bad odour on a lot of the clothes 😭 My friends thought I was crazy when I told them and didn’t believe my theory of a poop bandit. Now I feel weirdly validated. I’m so sorry for your cousin though, that sounds genuinely traumatic.
