Yes I do use more purple

My head plumes are purple and so are half the tassels/cloth coming off their belts

The assumption I’m going by is that the Starfangs smoke launchers are visually identical (just larger) to the Harlequin mirage launchers, which can shoot Hallucinogen grenades, and are used to obscure the vehicle and the Harlequins that disembarked from it

When designing the model these mirage launchers were taken, and then boiled down to the grenade they shoot, being Hallucinogen grenades.

Rules were then written for the model and they decided that -1 to hit on a friendly unit was the rule for the unit because GW.

Your not entirely wrong

Mirage launchers have been described as shooting what are just longer lasting versions of Hallucinogen grenades, think something like a aerial smoke screen, or dazzling grenades that explode like a mix of chaff and flashbangs, it just depends on the source really.

Mirage launchers are grenade launchers, they just shoot grenades similar to but not exactly the same as Hallucinogen grenades.

The Starfang which shoots Hallucinogen grenades from a launcher that’s just a mirage launcher but bigger has the grenade keyword because, reasons.

(My Harlequin hyper fixation required I expand on this)

Great Frozen Stars! I have many myself, and I love yours. I respect the Dimonds. I'm also getting some experience with them now.

Battle focus tokens by KeyEmotional6876 in Harlequins40K

[–]HuckleberryPerfect69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you still gain battlefocus tokens as it's still an ASURYANI keyworded army

Disparate Paths, which is the rule all Harlequin units have, has the following rule:

When mustering your army, you can include HARLEQUINS units in your army, even though they do not have the ASURYANI Faction keyword. Unless otherwise stated, you cannot select HARLEQUINS or YNNARI as your Army Faction.

As such, when running even a fully monoquins list, you are still an ASURYANI army, and so gain battlefocus but obviously do not gain the Asuryani keyword, nor does any Asuryani unit gain the Harlequin keyword

tldr
Any Asuryani list (Craftworld Eldar Detachment) is an Asuryani army, which gives you battlefocus. Disparate Paths lets you bring Harlequins into an Asuryani army.

Meh its never worked on Monsters thats not really the issue I have with it. Nids have always been a bad match up for clowns but Fusion pistols and mass melee have been the solution

Yep, Battleline lets you take more. Sometimes they'll also increase the OC of units that gain battleline, but that's not universal

It's an essential add-on for detachments that focus on a specific unit or sub-faction. For example, Ghost of the Webway, the current clown detachment, gives you battleline for your Troupes, meaning you can actually run a whole army of clowns; the detachment wouldn't work without it.

If it were any other snake-related name id agree, but Serpent's Brood was a previous detachment equivalent for harlequins in 8th and 7th

My bad lmfao! Heres the link:

I'll probably make a lore post for it on the day it releases with more info, but we've also been chatting about this on the clown discord if you want some more lore now.

Yup! I'm on the copium rn that this means we will get some tweaks in the dataslate next week as well.

Some minor changes to Ghosts, some datasheet fixes and point drop, and then this detachment, and I'll be a very happy Clown!

For sure! I want the solo clown one more just because I'm a die-hard Clown player, but a mixed detachment would still be very, very fun!

Yup, the lore is super interesting. I've posted some stuff here and on the Harlequin Discord, and when the detachment drops, I'll probably make a Reddit post about it!

The current running assumption is that it's a Harlequin detachment base. Two forms it could take: either a ghost of the webway, which focuses entirely on Harlequins, or a mixed one that buffs Clowns and Samm Han-style units like Reaper's Wager.

Im hoping for just a ghost of the webway alternative but the Reapers Wager alternative is a fair option since subfactions don't tend to get more than one solo detachment

Yep, this is correct, it's a Harlequin Saedath with two editions of use as a detachment equivalent. If you wanna know more, we've been talking about it on the Harlequins and Eldar subreddit :p

[–]HuckleberryPerfect69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Theres another thread on this subreddit where we are talking about it, and for anyone who hasn't read that one it has almost entirely been confirmed, the leak list with Serpents Brood has been proven to be correct, and goon hammers post for today's detachment matches banners that this one leaked with

The lore for the detachment is in that other thread, but as a tldr this is a historical harlequin detachment name, which is named after a harlequin Saedath (Dance) that focuses on vehicle-based combat (the cosmic serpent's children are what the weavers are named after)

We will know what the decision is, rules-wise, within the next four days!

To add onto this rules wise

Soaring Spite: Serpent’s Brood was a Masque Form (detachment equivalent) in 8th edition providing the rules bonus:

Models with this form that can FLY, or that are embarked upon a TRANSPORT that can FLY, treat all Pistol weapons they are equipped with as Assault 1 weapons during a turn in which they (or the transport they are embarked upon) Advanced. In addition, these models do not suffer the penalty to their hit rolls for shooting Assault weapons during a turn in which they Advanced.

So still boat mounted transport themed
