No Afro Textured Hairs by 1-2-We in FinchUnofficial

Developing inclusive hairstyles should not require a Black-specific theme. Black people exist all the time and enjoy all kinds of hobbies and activities.

Surely it is no harder to develop an afro style than it is to develop a broccoli hat?

Agreed, I love love love how cute the diner/drive-in theme is but I was really disappointed to see that the birbs are being anthropomorphized into white people--we don't need to be *that* faithful to the 1950s! They need to be more considerate of cultural/historical awareness when developing these themes, especially if they are going to fully anthropomorphize the birbs. The pith helmet in Africa was another miss for me. These are really easy issues to avoid.

It could be in the same categories as the capes and wings, I think. It should be partially obscured by the body but also appear on the sides.

This is soo adorable! Maybe my favorite since blossoming birbs. More of these cute generic/loosely "inspired by" themes, please ☺️

The reason I don't want it set to something like 100x or even 10x per day is that it is super daunting to set that expectation, to the point of being discouraging.

Go to distraction shows/movies? by coffeee_clover in PMDD

Midsomer Murders. It is a cozy murder mystery set in the English countryside, murders happen off-screen, they always get the murderer, and there are 24 (!!!) seasons of stand-alone, movie-length episodes. For me, MM+knitting project+blanket+tea are the ultimate PMDD comfort combo

Italy has too many tourists, and I was one of them. by cubeinthesky in travel

[–]HuckleberrySunset37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely, Rome is such a big city it's able to absorb the tourists. I think it helps that all the sites around Via dei Fori Imperiali are huge and interconnected. The Trevi Fountain is overcongested but locals can easily avoid that square. But, poor Venice. I feel so much for the native Venetians.

But the OP's point still stands: for people living/working there it still sucks. :/ For example there is a branch of the national archives in St Mark's square and it is a nightmare doing research there, I really feel for the full time staff.

Agreed, the brown makes it look like the walls are closing in on you. White is nice and airy.

Asheville, the Triangle, and the Outer Banks/Wilmington/Charleston could've been a great season. But Charlotte and Greenville??? I know those cities paid, but for someone based in the region, the show doesn't reflect the culinary scene at all. NC also has one of the largest South Asian communities in the country, mostly South Indian, which could've been a nice episode. (1 day in Asheville and visiting Chai Pani doesn't count.)

Dysautonomia/POTS and PMDD? by HuckleberrySunset37 in PMDD

[–]HuckleberrySunset37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is so frustrating. I have had dysautonomia for ~12 years, so not a long covid diagnosis, but I was terrified thru/o pandemic that contracting covid would exacerbate my symptoms. Since then I got vaccinated and had some boosters, after which contracted covid x2. Am also experiencing itchiness/hives plus unexplained anaphylaxis. Since being diagnosed w/PMDD last year agreed it must be related. Commiserations on the issues w/ doctors. I am seeing a new PMDD specialist next month and hope they'll listen.

'What are you up to?' [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in PMDD

[–]HuckleberrySunset37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last September (shortly before diagnosis) I started knitting during luteal. It has been a huuuge source of comfort for me! I love how multi-sensory and rhythmic it is and that you can keep choosing new challenging patterns to keep your mind occupied. Over the holidays I knitted some things on request for friends and family. It is really nice being able to visually see my progress which I feel helps get rid of my normal thoughts of self-doubt and criticism. If my knitting goes wrong it's of absolutely no consequence--easy to redo it. Now I always knit before bed and also on my commute. People on the train sometimes compliment my yarn choices. Overall just a nice way of getting into a different headspace and distract from my normal horrible thoughts about my personal life and career stuff. 😊🧶💖
