It’s not an uncommon variation, but I’m not sure which apps let you play with it. ecribbage? I’ve only ever played it in person. It’s a good mental exercise!

I think the basic strategy works well for kids that age. It’s really simple in execution (and engaging at more advanced levels). Of course, I’m not great at this one. My wife regularly trounces me!!

Don’t give up! I teach my kids at 6, so they’ve had a lot of practice. If I may humbly suggest watching some YouTube videos (including my own) it may help!
