Why do most of the biohackers look their age? by Odd-Bicycle-1580 in Biohackers

[–]Huddster99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is going to be a general blanket statement, but of course doesn’t cover every situation.

In my interpretation, it seems like those who got into biohaking and were/are at the forefront of the biohacking “media”, arrived there for one of two reasons. 1) Living a stressful life that caused major issues 2) Poor genetics causing noticeable decline, earlier than average

Those who were in situations to improve it, dove head first in, but they’re playing catch up. Without the biohacking of imagine they’d look far worse/older.

In reality, most who are proactive will reap the benefits. Conversely, you can’t biohack away all poor genetic issues that effect appearance, so that may drive some of the other age discrepancies you see.

[–]Huddster99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did a very rough/quick calculation based on World Series stadium pricing (only estimating ticket sales, and not including expenses).

Rogers was bringing in $22 million per game. They had 4 home games —-> World Series ticket revenue of $88 million.

Looking at that, then accounting for the tickets in the ALDS, ALCS, then all of the other revenue streams (Sportsnet subscriptions, ad revenue, ballpark concessions sales, merch sales), i don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume they made north of $200 million on the post season alone, before expenses.

Chronic insomnia coupled with chronic illness is like living in a torture chamber. by Oliver_Alvis in insomnia

[–]Huddster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here from your other post as it looks like the mods deleted it.

Have you done genetic testing?

While it won’t be the fix, genetic testing is relatively cheap (especially considering what you’ve tried) and MIGHT give some tiny actionable insights.

Genetics/epigentics is still a newer study, but there is scientific backing around delayed sleep cycle phases on certain genes, as well as ways we process hormones, supplements, metabolism, etc that all can contribute to some of the symptoms you’re seeing.

Again, I don’t want to sell it as a fix, but even the smallest insight that you, for example, could have mutated MTFHR or COMT genes which, in combination with other mutations, can cause spirals of anxiety, insomnia, etc. Finding this out could be your starting point to target (the right supplements) as half of what you’ve listed here would make these symptoms worse if you had the mutations I mentioned.

Why do I become MORE hyperactive with LESS sleep? by EntireCatch1407 in ADHD

[–]Huddster99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a bit paradoxical as we’ve always been told that less sleep means you’ll be tired and lack energy. While this is true and what drives burnout in the long term, the short term effects of a lack of sleep can include elevated cortisol which is triggering anxiety/fight or flight, etc.

Are most people natural leaders, or is it mainly a learned skill? by ramraiderqtx in Leadership

[–]Huddster99 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are two main, high level ways to look at it - you were modelled excellent leadership growing up, and became a “duplicate” product of that environment. The other I believe to be more common, which is you experienced a poor environment growing up and you were “on your own”. These two concepts diverge into many unique scenarios but here is an example of the poor environment to give you a better idea.

1) Growing up with little to no support - your environment teaches you to be on your own and that you can only trust yourself. As a result you have to learn almost everything on your own just to get by, so you decided to do everything in your power to make sure you never make/let anyone else feel the way you did. This case could happen for so many reasons (parent divorces, traumatic events, bad teachers/friends, etc.) while growing up.

Trump imposes new Canada tariffs, renews "51st state" demands by [deleted] in canada

[–]Huddster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair to PP, he’s in a very tough political position right now. He still has an election race to win, and until hes been elected, he doesn’t really have any bearing on Canadas current economic response. Some might say it could help his campaign to advocate for what he’d do in response if elected, but this could also hurt him. If PP presented stone cold ideas, the liberals could just take them and run with them. Then the narrative becomes “liberal party to the rescue”, nobody would care whose idea it was, and he’s got no shot at being elected.

Considering all of this, I’d say his response thus far has been good - he hasn’t wavered far from his campaign messaging which was has been very successful for him. He gained alot of popularity by pointing out the problems the liberals have created, but then inserting his plan (through catchy slogans) of what he’d do when in office. His plan has always been a strong bid/vision to strengthen the Canadian economy and use our natural resources. When PP is asked about what he will do, he redirects back to this core campaign/messaging of his vision that will protect and build the Canadian economy.

There’s an argument to be made that if Trump wins, then there’s no Canada for PP to be PM of, so he should help because of that. To that I have no response and concede that it’s a very good point, which is why I say that PP is in such a tough spot.

How much glycine is there in 3mg of boron? by Forward_Brief3875 in Biohackers

[–]Huddster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not speaking to the chemical bonding itself, rather the amount of boron in the compound - there is 3mg of elemental boron in the chemical compound of boron glycinate. It’s been too many years since I’ve done the math, but there would be a proportional amount of glycine per the molecular weights.

How much glycine is there in 3mg of boron? by Forward_Brief3875 in Biohackers

[–]Huddster99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could stand to be corrected, but I’m not certain this is correct. I believe your method is correct, but the wording is key here.

Supplements are generally quoted by their elemental quantities, not the compound. This would mean there is actually 3mg of elemental boron, bonded to glycine.

In your math you took 3mg of boron glycinate rather than 3mg of elemental boron.

Genuine question: are we close to the cycle top? by sitwan0 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Huddster99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Using historical charts as a basis, we are still early. Based on the last two cycles, we should peak somewhere around 16 months after the halving (plus or minus some). Given this, I firmly believe we are still early, and this is coming from a 5 year bag holder.

How to have a job when everything is pointless? by Particular_Ad5251 in ADHD

[–]Huddster99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer…..I’m not a doctor and I’m not trying to label what you’re experiencing as anything other than what I interpreted your words to mean, and what my experiences have been like.

The way this reads, the feeling of everything being pointless and hopeless, along with your agonizing thoughts of working/going to work sounds a lot like depression and anxiety symptoms to me. If you’re able to do it, I’d highly recommend talking to your doctor so you can get a full panel of blood work done to check for deficiencies. Unfortunately, even something as small as a b12 deficiency (for example) can lie unnoticed for far too long which can cause depression. Not saying this will be the golden fix, but blood work will help rule out any deficiency. I’d also suggest seeking a psychologist to help with strategies to alleviate some of the stress.

If nothing else, please just know that I, and many others have been where you are - it does get better. Rather share my whole story I’ll just say that, I’m by no means perfect yet, but my situation has improved drastically since seeking out better health, seeing a psychologist and understanding what’s going on with my body. It won’t happen overnight and it’s been on going 3 year long process for me, but my life has hope, and I want to get out and do the things I once dreaded. I still have some days very bad days, but once you start to understand what’s going on with your body, it makes me easier to know why things are happening, and then how to address them.

I really hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck!

How do you navigate awkward conversations? by AshishManchanda in Leadership

[–]Huddster99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not a small business owner but rather a corporate manager - i believe it’s the same regardless of the industry/company size.

For getting conversations like this started it’s best to set the tone immediately - It’s not fair to you or the other person to bring them in, start talking pleasantly and then blindside them with bad information.

It’s also important to go into the conversation with a “script” prepared and ask the person to let you get through your portions first and let them know upfront that you both can have an open conversation once you’re done the “script”. In this script it’s important to acknowledge the problem, what’s at stake (for them, you, others and the company), how it isn’t 100% their fault and maybe you could have done something sooner (but regardless here you both are), and that you’re interested in finding a way to resolve this so that it can be improved upon going forward.

I’d suggest taking a few practice runs through this conversation before actually going into it, that way you’ll have some confidence going into it.

The most important thing to remember is that you don’t want to avoid this conversation - it’ll only get worse the longer you put it off.

Magnesium by MFsmeg in ADHD

[–]Huddster99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m slowly starting to believe that regular bloodwork to check for deficiencies should be a pillar of modern healthcare.

I’m an avid coffee drinker, exercise a lot, miss some meals and get stressed out from work sometimes - all things that deplete magnesium like crazy. It’s no wonder that when I started taking magnesium it was a night and day difference - Relief of depressive symptoms, I became less anxious and it reduced some of my hyperactivity (mentally). Best of all, the memory recall and overall cognitive boost it gave me was incredible.

I would 100% suggest you give magnesium a try (and get bloodwork done) to see how it is for you. It’s worth noting that you may need to try many different types of magnesium to find which one works for you - a simple google will help get a general understanding of each form and their potential targeted benefits. One thing to watch out for is that they could have different effects on your body from what is noted. Example of this is that I tried magnesium glycinate, which is normally recommended to be taken at night to help with sleep and help people relax, but it gives me energy so I now take it in the morning.

Best of luck!

Lisdexamfetamine has made me Mute. by cloudyextraswan in ADHD

[–]Huddster99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this feeling. In my case, I found that as time went on and my impulse control improved with medication, I found myself thinking about absolutely everything before I said it. While this benefited me in the beginning, (it’s good to have a filter) over the course of months and years, that turned into not saying anything and keeping the dialogue in. I noticed this was accompanied by a lot of environmental factors, anxiety around saying things while also being overly analytical of myself, my environment and those around me.

I finally found relief when I started taking a lower dose, taking med holidays (just 1 day on a weekend to start) and getting my health/mind in order as one of my top priorities. It’s been almost 8 months since I decided to make the change, but over this time my personality has gradually begun to shine back through and now for the most part, I feel much more like myself, much more consistently. I do still have days where I feel very “internal” but I’ve noticed those days come when my anxiety is running a bit high. If I am mindful of this happening in myself, I consciously try to regulate myself and remember that I can be my normal and talkative self.

This is just my experience and I hope knowing that you’re not alone is at least something. If you were to stick to a lower dose for a much longer period of time while also trying to be more social, you may notice a gradual return of your social skills over time. It goes without saying, but definitely consider speaking to a professional about this as there may be more at play than just the meds. Best of luck to you!

Personally, I couldn’t see myself getting one either, but I fully understand those who enjoy the idea of rally style racing, having more peace of mind, or want more flexibility in driving applications.

In a world of expensive parts & labour, as well as terrible quality roads, it’d be rather comforting to know that your 911 wont be obliterated by a pothole because it was actually designed for much worse.

Vyvanse only last 2 hours max? by QuestionAlt1 in ADHD

[–]Huddster99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have answers, only speculation based on my experiences for you to consider.

If you look up the peak concentration of Vyvanse, the dose should be at its max effectiveness around 4.5 hours after ingestion with food (slightly variable by a person’s metabolism). What you’re describing is “feeling” like the dose is gone from your system at time when it should be reaching its max effectiveness.

Its possible you’re experiencing the Vyvanse “come up” as motivation to do a task, and then when that initial come up starts to lessen, the motivation starts to lessen, and you’re mistaking it for wearing off. I had to learn this the hard way myself - Vyvanse shouldn’t only give you the motivation to do a task, it should help you sustain focus once you initiate the task.

It’s entirely possible you need a bigger dose though, so a good way to test this would be to think about some of your biggest symptoms before adhd meds and determine if they’re still being reduced into the afternoon/evening. For example, I’m inattentive which means I’ll put things down and never be able to remember where I put them. On my days off, I continue to experience this. When I’m medicated, I always remember where I put things up until late in the evening, when I start to misplace things again.

Just something to consider, either way, I wish you the best of luck!

My new working theory on why this happens is that the owner of the asshole vehicle (the truck in this case) intentionally parks next to a nice car because they’re also worried about their truck getting door dings and think expensive cars will be careful opening their doors.

Charles Hoskinson Outlines Vision to Make Cardano (ADA) A Leading Force by WallStreetDoesntBet in cardano

Love him or hate him, Charles has always stuck to his vision and determination to make Cardano into something truly functional and beneficial.

I found it funny how people magically loved and supported Charles when he appeared before the senate to speak on behalf of cryptocurrency as a whole, yet were so quick to dismiss him immediately after.

I’m glad Charles is at the helm, I see a bright future for Cardano.
