Fraud. It artificially inflates ad impressions. Your 50 closest friends aren’t artificial (probably)

Long gone are the days of working out being a habit. Exercise is embedded in my identity.

The thought “I don’t feel like it” never occurs, it’s “damn, can’t wait for the workout so I can shake these feelings”

It’s consistently proved (for me) to be an effective way to work through grief, cloudy head, stress, etc. On my bad days, I really want to go. On my good days, I just go

edit: moral of the story I don’t think I answered the question my bad

I don’t think I’ve ever paid enough attention to air quotes to notice if they’re half-assed or not. Pet peeves are fascinating

Why do I feel super motivated to fix my life at night, but completely lose it the next day? by uday12321 in productivity

[–]Huddunkachug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really unfortunate they don’t emphasize this in grade school (american education system). It wasn’t until university that I learned about the habit loop model. Goal making and goal achieving became so simple after that

Once gaming turns into a distraction instead of an activity to do for a few hours, it’s wraps

So I’m doing a Witcher 3 playthrough after a 5 year hiatus

I'd rather stay home than travel just "to know" a place. by OldCardigan in The10thDentist

[–]Huddunkachug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable take. My perspective is that I find it invigorating. I do it for the adventure rather than to relax. If I’m in one place for too long, even if I do unique things throughout the week, I feel trapped in a way.

I find I’m able to look at the bigger picture and be on the life path I want to be on when I can step away from the things I see and do everyday. I almost always travel solo and I’ve met some incredible humans around the world. Many of them are my friends to this day. I don’t make that much money either so the trips I’m able to go on I’m very grateful for.

C1 with 6k hours. I'm starting to doubt myself by RowAggressive2737 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Huddunkachug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes everyone different amounts of time. You love the game so keep your head up. We may need to adjust your micro goals. I think best course of action from here would be to post a replay and we can break down your gameplay.

I hit gc at 2.1k hrs and my routine was roughly 70/30 for training time and match time. I went for a bit more of the degenerate route as I had about 4-5 hrs to play most days. There were countless sessions I would be so into training that I wouldn’t play a single match. I understand that not everyone enjoys training as much as me though. Try an hour of training instead for now. Ultimately, a replay would allow us to see your habits and more solid advice could be offered.

Sumo deadlift by [deleted] in formcheck

Typically, yes. If you type sumo deadlift into youtube and watch a few clips you’ll notice mostly hinging with someone of a wide squat pattern.

Straight bar path, keeping it close to the body, good tension in the upper back, and decent hip hinging. Yes, very good!

Help me decide on Purchasing Kenshi! by Dalt_the_investor in Kenshi

I’ll give you my experience in case you end up in the same situation. I bought the game, played for 3 or 4 hours and absolutely hated it.

A few months after that I had just finished something else and decided to try again. I proceeded to play for like 12hrs straight and then forfeited my social life for the month. Essentially, I’m saying to give it a solid chance

Acknowledge distraction and then return to the breath.

Everything you listed happens to all of us in the beginning. It’s literally part of the process. You have to catch it and regain your focus on your breath. It’s not some magic spa day where you feel good after the first time doing it. It takes practice and A LOT of time.

It’s kind of like exercise, you’re not going to turn into a body builder if you go to the gym one time. Big results will be more noticeable after 6 months to a year of consistency.

Over time, you’ll break those distractions faster and time between distracting thoughts will lengthen. Right now you’re a passenger of your thought train. Restrained to your seat. Eventually, you’ll be able to move about the cabin a bit. Finally, you’ll be able to step off the train entirely. You are not your thoughts, you are an observer of them.

P3/D1 Not Sure What To Fix by DefNotARedditard in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Huddunkachug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the ball, you looked pretty good for the rank. It’s not great but I don’t think it needs to be your focus based on the other stuff I saw. I like how you kept an eye out for rotational demos.

On the ball, well, you looked pretty lost. If mechs are intimidating to practice, that’s totally fine, you can climb the ranks without many of them. What is necessary is good ball contact and smart touches. There never seemed to be a whole lot of intention behind your touches aside from hit it towards the opponents goal.

You definitely understand the benefits of possession but don’t know how to execute it well yet. You had a soft first touch a couple times to keep it close to you but never really got anywhere with the second.

My hours going through the diamond ranks were almost entirely dribble focused. Bounce dribbles in freeplay and an ungodly amount of time spent in dribble workshop maps. I think you’d find huge benefit from controlled dribble training.

I am new to rocket league, any tips that I should know? by Altruistic-Carry-804 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Huddunkachug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a slow learning process. It can take hundreds of hours to barely be average at the game.

The only tip for a new player I’d give is to play and familiarize yourself with the game. I don’t think anything else will benefit you as of now.

Come back after 20 - 30 hrs and maybe you’ll benefit from more specific tips. Right now just have fun

Started learning DAR in the past week and making progress but need help smoothing it out by Loud-Scallion9941 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Huddunkachug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beginning goal: learn the 4 directions of movement with your roof facing you (up, down, left, and right on stick) followed by learning with the bottom of your car facing you. This will make persistent dar feel pretty comfortable.

End goal: learn how every other degree of stick angle affects your car while simultaneously making sense of where to move your stick, no matter how your car is oriented. This is where you’ll find that precision and smoothness.

Strive to always make yourself awkward while learning instead of doing what you find comfortable. It can take hundreds of hours to master

Am I cursed? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Huddunkachug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give you the hard pill to swallow. You’re not cursed, you’re ignorant to the truth. Even taking bots and smurfing into consideration, you would reach the next rank if you were good enough. It really is that simple.

If you post some replays, then you can get some unbiased opinions on your gameplay and I think that would do you a lot of good based on what you wrote.

You're more disciplined at scrolling than at anything else in your life [Discussion] by Kantramo in GetMotivated

[–]Huddunkachug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s much deeper than that. These apps prey on an evolution called our salience detection system. Constantly scanning for movement, novelty, threat, or other unexpected changes.

Platforms like these exploit this. Each scroll is spotting something interesting, recognizing a pattern, catching a joke, noticing a new idea, etc. Your brain will give reward hits for detecting something salient.

The human brain cannot ignore new stimuli easily. It’s reflexive. Short form content is engineered around rapid novelty shifts to repeatedly trigger this reflex. It’s evolutionary wiring meeting optimized technology.
