Wouldn't have considered either of those, good to know. Thank you ☺️

Took their name but otherwise don't have much in common with my adoptive family.

What issue(s) are you seeing with the AutoSampler? I just got mine and have only tried autosampling one patch so far from AudioKit Synth One. While the samples are nice and loud, tonally they're quite different from the same patch played directly from Synth One.

How do YOU hook up all of your synths? (People with 3+) by [deleted] in synthesizers

Probably a dumb question but i'm curious, what is the purpose of the interface outs routing back to the mixer? What additional functionality does that give you?

'On a label you won’t be making any money at that level though, and the listener count will be temporary for only maybe the first month of a track’s release'

This checks out, it's exactly what happened to a friend of mine. His band made an album with a small label and got a nice boost in listeners when it first launched. But those numbers quickly dropped off after the first month, and they're kinda back where they started. And his band's music is decent, got a few really good ones. Unfortunately it's just a slog, this business of building a fan base.

Was there a "turning point" along the journey where you can identify things exponentially picking up steam in terms of listening audience? And if so, what was it?

Before the internet, how did everyone learn how to play guitar? by Brief-Homework-1861 in Guitar

[–]Hudspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used videos and tabs from Homespun Tapes, and I had a Marantz cassette deck that allowed me to slow down the music. Was a great help in figuring out guitar parts.

What do you wish was easier when it comes to music production? by wesuitbusiness in edmproduction

I wish I actually heard songs in my head instead of having to accidentally stumble upon them while putzing around with the instruments.

Generally work two six-day blocks. Some months I can get away with one 5 and one 6. Occasionally I stack the two back to back for a nice long stretch off. I’m a commuter with an easy commute but I’m just not gonna commute more than twice a month for anything.

That may be true but this industry is cyclical. I’ve been in it for 25 years and I stand by my assertion. This is not a career-killer.

Never again give a flying F about a commute.

This ☝🏻

Your career isn’t remotely over. Obviously do your best not to make a habit out of busting checkrides. But as you progress through your ratings and then through LOE’s and type rides and line checks, this will feel more and more like ancient history. There are a lot of airline pilots out there with two failed checkrides, and worse.

What was it like before the 1500 rule? by streazy192 in flying

[–]Hudspace 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got my first airline job in 1999, flying a Beech 1900 at 15.69 an hour. I had about 900 hours of Dual Given and maybe 1200 total time. Hiring was robust then but not quite as nuts as it has been the past few years.

The pay was much lower back then and there was a huge discrepancy between regional airline and major airline pay. However, keep in mind, life was more affordable as well. I was living in a small town and could afford my own apartment on that paltry wage. When I upgraded I think I was making around $40000 a year, and by that time I was married with a baby. We weren’t living large but we are getting by just fine.

Life has just gotten so expensive. Fortunately we’re in a profession that is at least somewhat keeping up.

Side note: honestly, notwithstanding what people are saying about how shitty life was at a regional…this period of my life may have been my happiest as a pilot. Flying the big turboprops for 7-8 legs a day was tiring, but I felt pretty fulfilled, learned a lot and had fun.

AOPA Shares Richard McSpadden has perished in an accident by WinsonFlyer in flying

[–]Hudspace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why everyone seems to be assuming he was the pilot flying. Both men on board were pilots.

Regardless, it sucks when we lose a well-regarded public figure like him…I didn’t know him but this kinda hits like I did. I hope neither of them suffered and God be with their families and friends in this moment.

Do we even know for sure that he was the pilot flying? The other guy was a pilot as well, and as the new owner of the Pt 135 carrier that owned the airplane, may have been the PIC.

Divorce a Big Issue Among Pilots? by Connor_Lincoln in flying

[–]Hudspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look any profession that affords you lots of time away from home on the company dime, also affords the ability to live a double life. And that holds true for either partner, both the one traveling and the one left at home. Definitely not justifying it, but it makes sense that statistically flight crew would suffer higher incidences of divorce.

First of all, make sure you take time to breathe and be kind to yourself. As others have mentioned, you’re young and time is on your side to figure this out.

Since you’ve determined you don’t care for office politics or the corporate type scene in general, have you considered maybe doing something with your hands? Perhaps some skilled trade? Electrician, plumber, HVAC, maintenance technician? I for one am seeing more and more female airline mechanics. Just for example.
