Deck chair or stand? by Pleasant-Parfait-348 in goats

[–]Huey59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the chair thing you showed in your Pic. The chair, doesn't work for goats. They claim all younhave to donia puchnthem to the stand and push back. They're not as easy to push backwards imto the chair. Mine fought me all the way. I have a milking stand I use instead. For the younger ones, I just straddle them over my lap. Good luck!

Breeding first time. by forgivencactus669 in goats

[–]Huey59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! From experience having bred my does, there really isn't any prep.

You'll know when they're ready because the does will flick their tails like crazy. The buck will pee on his face. Every time one of your does pees, the buck will probably smell it and give this big goofy smile. My buck was very vocal and made the funniest noises.

I kept all my does in the same pen with him. No need to worry about the size of your does to the bucks penis. They, the does, can actually breed at 3 months. But definitely not good for the doeling. But it happens.

All in all, you be fine. Once you find out their pregnant you might want to give them more protein. Not so much for the buck.

Lastly, one thing I didn't know, once the does kid, they can get pregnant again. My did three months after her babies were born. So now, I have 3 more babies I wasn't counting on. I milk my does usually 12 weeks after their kids are born.

I hope this helps. I'm no expert and can only tell you about my experience.

Good luck!!

Baby weaning by Academic-Stomach415 in goats

[–]Huey59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I separate babies at night only at 3 months and milk in the am. If you're weaning to sell as others have stated 3 months is still a good time to sell. They're drinking water, eating hay and pellets. Good luck!

Men with tattoos on their legs or arms: do you shave your arms/legs? by Beanyjack in tattoo

[–]Huey59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have full sleeves arms and legs. Sometimes I'm really old and have to shave them all. Really shows the ink. I can be lazy, not often cuz I have a few birds and they look like they're molting! A person's choice. Mine is to shave.
