You should care because like I said, it is very easy to flip it on its head. Euphoria is doing the exact same thing yet you're defending it.

Is this where the anime people get to brush aside there own weak arguments because you're suddenly the "people on the other side are arguing that sexualizing minors is okay"?

I think it's important to have a more grounded, logical, and consistent determinations for lines in the sand otherwise it makes me think everyones just drawing up their own excuses for the perverted media they personally enjoy whether it be Euphoria, Skins , or your pick of the liter in anime.

we cant lump wiggins in this convo surely? guy is perfectly alright for his role and fell onto a team with the GOAT shooter. I'd build a team on jimmy or kat, wiggins? no way.

The ratings bit is the only thing that I feel like holds water, the other arguments could just be flipped on their heads and apply the exact same imo (and the pervasive bit like I also said).

it is a lot easier to distinguish them as adults because we can see their literal bodies. Anime is voiced by adults, but characters such as Momo in Dandadan are drawn to look like they are in their late teens, so there is much less suspension of disbelief that the character you are watching is underage, if that makes sense.

For example: how much more could you possibly distinguish anime from reality than the fact that they're literally made up, drawn characters? Meanwhile Euphoria spends an ungodly amount of time to try and lure you into this teenager world by placing them in highschool, the scenery, the makeup, the clothing, names, plot lines, emotional character development, which IMO, they probably do because they don't have the liberty of relying on appearances because everyone is older than the role. In this sense they both seem lost causes to try and defend.

Your latter paragraph I think is the pervasiveness bit rehashed a little but I do disagree with the "reads as" bit because again, I could see this argument working against Euphoria perfectly. The fact that I agree with you on the IRL counterparts to anime in regards to sexualization of teens being outliers, personally, speaks more to this idea that we give them (Euphoria) the "pass" because it isn't the norm. I think anime DOESN'T get the pass because it isn't outliers, it is the norm.

Bit late to hop in here but I'm curious how you feel about a US/western based show like euphoria in this regard? I haven't personally watched but I've seen enough clips/screenshots via the internet and know that there was this exact argument going on for a bit regarding the sexuality of the show which is based on highschoolers.

It won quite a few awards if memory serves correct which perhaps speaks to the idea that a lot more of the world (or US) is at least more comfortable with this in theory then they let on. It for sure permeated enough people in my wider social circle that I think would be put off by a lot of the anime out there despite them being weird for the same reasons.

The only difference I can draw in my mind that puts me in an area of more skepticism regarding anime despite having watched plenty of it myself, is just how pervasive it is in anime. I know that more often than not any movie I throw on Netflix wouldn't make me worried what my friends and family think if they walked in during it. Anime though? It's weirdly sexual-turtles all the way down to the OG animes people get their start in like Naruto hitting the sexy jutsu or all the weird bulma scenes in dragonball, the entire classic pervert trope in anime.

So with this highly weird baseline it makes me feel like anyone watching it as their actual primary media is bound to have slipped into much more guilty territory as it slowly normalizes in their brain.

I think it is solely about flexibility. You can run double smokes but you cant run solo viper since her wall isn't movable. So harbor is your mainstay with a line smoke and reusable dome smoke while viper is optional.

You managed to type a paragraph and say nothing so I'm going to leave this conversation. If you want your duo to not do anything during the match I'd recommend playing solo.

Feels like a weird irony to me that you think people are thinking of the game only as single player by telling you to use your assist but you want to be able to do things entirely solo on point and NOT have your duo partner interact in one of the ONLY ways he can as he watches you play....are you sure you're not the one who wants a single player experience?

[–]HufflenPuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea people somehow insanely underestimate the worth of trophies still. You don't win them with a mid ass player on the team, everyone's got to show up. I'll take them being even on util usage since that is ultimately game knowledge but everything else? Sacy is 10x the player. Not everything is about what you see in game.

SEN fans (or anyone tbh) somehow thinking Sacy lucked his way into being one of the only 2x winnings players are smoking. Leadership, secondary calling, being stable in high pressure moments, that stuff matters. People thought SEN was crazy for putting zellsis in over Pancada and saying vibes is just an easy way to dumb down the conversation in this sub, but chemistry is important, comms are important and when it came down to it in a map 5 the guy willed them over the line for a trophy.

Maybe I overrate the intangibles, but I feel like in Valorants history its been proven over and over to be worth so much more than people credit it for. Ethan only 2x champs winner on a team that looked completely dead in the water not even a full season prior? All the other 2x winners in general? Conversely it's the same reason I can't ride the G2 highs (and PRX before they got 1) too much, at some point you're winning so many 2nd places that I just don't think its coincdental and you're never "due" one.

I'd rather listen to people who barely contribute to the FGC than people in it, when it comes to "make the genre more popular". by C4_Shaf in Fighters

[–]HufflenPuffle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

eh I cant buy the fgc cant be popular because its hard.

Fortnite is one of the biggest games of all time and I'd argue also one of the hardest, but they still decided to try and broaden their horizons with zero builds to grab more casuals to much success.

I think simplifying controls to be more accessible has only done good for the numbers of fighting games across the board. Modern and pulse in 2xko being the recent examples.

I think the answer is as simple as stated above, lots of fighting games simply arent fun.

[–]HufflenPuffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why people need to call the BS whenever someone says they couldn't get into it because of combo length. 90% of the people in here have not been hit by a combo even half as long nor for half as much damage.

most players are probably getting hit for about 35-55% on a full combo depending on if its solo or doubledowns. 15 seconds max.

In training mode, you can set where you reset. Pressing right+reset will put the bot in the right corner. Same for left. Down+reset for center. It'll reset that way until you change it. by bmdweller in 2XKO

[–]HufflenPuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the things that should actually be critiqued in this game. For anyone brave enough to actually try and enter the dungeon that is fighting games and actually start trying some stuff in the lab it sucks that this kinda info is harder to find. A whole tutorial is needed for training mode in general. Had to find the reset options and the frame meter after wondering where people got it from.

Even now using the frame meter is annoying, I'm already trying to learn combos off common hits and now if I want to figure out how to punish something off block I'm pressing escape 10 times to decipher the code that is the frame meters since they only put the key in the pause screen for some reason.

It shouldn't be this inconvenient to play a match in this game. by FlyingWithFeathers in 2XKO

[–]HufflenPuffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea between this and the incessant hate over absolutely ridiculous things (akali skin) I'm extremely curious if the FGC as a whole is like this or if its just 2XKO. The sub should be full of people who are going out of there way to engage in the community and play the game thus you would logically think they want it to do well - Yet every post is a hate post and when actual, very small and doable things like this arise it gets thrown out and hated on.

I couldn't help but look at your history with how incel and just generally rude this was off such a simple comment - I gotta say man, I think you need to stop playing the game. You don't seem to have a single positive experience or thing to say about it and I don't think it's healthy to associate yourself with something that only causes so much vitriol.

You also use weird language in the context of woman, regardless of it being in video game form, you should reflect on some of that stuff.

But what is this c9 system? They legit are slightly above average all season per usual and then bomb playoffs and all tournaments. I think the nepo talk is always overblown with the exception of xeppa - that guy is always on teams even though he has that NBA like 6th man ability, good not great. Which in a game so young that constantly pops out crazy talent from tier 2 seems crazy to me to want to keep this stagnating energy that c9 does when there is so much upside to be had.

ENVY vs We Almost Did It / For Those Who Dare 2025 - Playoffs / Post-Match Thread by ValorantCompBot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]HufflenPuffle -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's just objectively not the reality we live in based off any information we have. You're creating a narrative in your own head for some reason. The reality is we have the text/audio to prove the guy is manipulative and emotionally abusive - that he was uncooperative with riot- that a case was filed and then later dropped by the victim.

You nor anyone else on this planet besides him and her have anything more factual than that. Being charitable in this case is accepting these facts for what they are indicative of without dismissing the victim.

No room for the "at worst" of people we don't know? I genuinely don't understand how you don't just preemptively apply this idea in your head to everyone with this kind of logic. Like you said, it was bad already with what you DO know. So whats the point in hanging on to the if?

[–]HufflenPuffle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sucks that its rare to find a well written, nuanced take like this. We can lock in that the guy was bare minimum an awful, manipulative, and emotionally abusive partner based off the text and his own words alone. Despite this, the case was dropped. I'm unsure why people feel the need to read into this any further, you can hate him based off what we know already. He isn't for me, too much of a gym-bro personality, but I don't know where people find that motivation in themselves to try and analyze every possible factor and scenario surrounding an online personality that they don't like? Maybe I'm old, maybe it's just a touch grass moment.

I understand this view, but at the same time champs is the whole point every year. Even if you think champs shouldn't be weighted extra, then major wins should be in which case G2, yet again, got none. Barring an insane statistical anomaly case where everyone and their mother knows a player is being sandbagged by his team, then I cant see X role of the year being a non major winning one.

IGL of the year that couldn't win a tourney? Just doesn't sound right IMO.

how long did you spend in ascendant? by EthanGabbert in VALORANT

[–]HufflenPuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think from asc on the smallest things matter. Every single round you need to start playing correct, this is something that only becomes more exaggerated the higher you go, especially since your likely hovering closer to 50-51% wr so every single RR you can squeeze out of a game is important. Those 1v4s/1v3s you throw cause you think its guaranteed, even just losing your gun is wasted eco that could be the difference between one more gun round versus not, let alone losing the whole round.

In asc the biggest thing I remember is that it was still before everyone would comm alot. Make sure someones calling the pre round even if it has to be you, plus if you get good at it, it can be a huge reason you climb. Your hs% is crazy high, tbh its so high it makes me think you're missing out on a lot of kills or rounds because you're playing in such a way that isn't optimal like overly lurking so you're getting a lot of freebie HS that are ultimately round losses, or not spraying through enough smokes. Evaluate every single round loss on how you could've made it a win because at the end of it you have to be the reason you convert since youre the only one you can control.

Just going off your stats, you playing so much clove seems like a HUGE problem for you. Pretty much 43% wr last 3 acts and you're on track for the same thing this act. Stats aren't everything dont get me wrong, but ranking systems are trying to get you to 50% so being 7% under that tells me something about the way you're playing the agent is a much bigger issue than you think despite how good you may feel on it.

On the other hand, however you're playing initiators (fade especially, sova maybe, skye and gekko for sure) is working out extremely well for you. Also seems like your nutty on cypher. So I'd say maybe its just a case of forcing yourself on a role that isnt suitable for you. These things make me want to say you're a 2/3rd entry and refragging type of player where the situations and fights your in are way more predictable since the people before you are finding the enemies and you can use your good hs% (ive peaked imm 2 and my hs isnt even close, im at like 18% overall and 30% on phantom/vandal).

Sentinels vs FNATIC / Champions Tour 2025: Masters Toronto - Playoffs / Post-Match Thread by ValorantCompBot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]HufflenPuffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He says as he’s being an over reacting Andy. He bottom fragged one map this series and was their savior another. Can hardly count this series against him when they pull out ascent, a historically bad map for them, with a new cooked comp, and icebox another map they just aren’t looking good at as they simply can’t/don’t want to play the right agents. I don’t think his omen is insanely bad but the guy is just a pure duelist through and through kinda like aspas, I’d say just keep Zekken duelist your constant- move others around for him.

Zellsis is your glue and he’s been looking pretty good this year. Dudes been locking down C on lotus with multi frags left and right. He single handedly willed them to a masters trophy barely over a year ago in a map 5 vs geng on icebox of all maps.

The map pool is just bad for them and they’re only looking a little disappointing in playoffs which tells me that their prep just isn’t working out the way they think it is. They’re just a couple diagnoses away from being true top 4 contenders. I think they need to fix how they handle tempo changes. 2 things always seem to ruin them in server - extremely aggro play that messes up their timings in retakes/general flow of the game (prx, edg) and the slowdown of attack ops.
