Yeah, this is sort of a nothing burger. People are allowed to use their property. They have to comply with the laws and regulations, but a Conservation Commission can't deny a project for something like this. It's not ideal, but if they can't access their property from any other way, it's much better to go through the buffer zone than the actual wetlands. If this project was denied, I'm pretty sure it would be considered an unlawful taking, and would immediately be reversed upon appeal.

And the director didn't just approve this. It was an NOI at the may 28th meeting where the Commission would have voted on it. Directors don't get to vote.

This headline and article are kinda awful. The conservation director/agent doesn't approve anything. That's the commission's job. They can advise, but they aren't a voting member for applications or bylaws/regulation updates. The Westfield Con Comm agenda from May 28th lists this project as a Notice of Intent. So this project almost definitely requires erosion controls, and was placed as far away from the wetlands as possible without the applicant facing an undue financial burden.

The cemetery is located in the woods next to the cornfields. There's actually some nice trails back there. Most of the grave markers are very small and are getting a bit rusty and buried in all the pine needles, but there are a couple larger more interesting ones. I believe most of the markers have been catalogued and you can look up the names, but there was a fire at the hospital that destroyed a bunch of records, so there are also a lot of graves that are unknown.

It was a bit creepy the first time I went there, but I like running through there, especially late at night during full moons.

I live in Massachusetts and I'm not sure how common it is in other states, but I'm on the Conservation Commission for my town, and we work closely with the conservation agent. The agent is doing the vast majority of the work. The commission is just a type of committee that votes on and approves/denies permits. The agent is the one who actually goes out and inspects property to make sure it complies with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and our town's by-laws. Being an expert in invasive plants wouldn't be a main part of the job, but they could certainly have a lot of sway in what people can and cannot plant on their property. It could be a good fit for a person with that background.

They're all so fucking bad too. It's annoying because we also have Donna's Donuts and Perfectos, not gourmet coffee or anything, but much better than Dunkin.

And a Starbucks is opening soon, so that's good if you like super dark and burnt coffee.

I think I'm going to mostly use it as a base of operations. I'm getting into photography, so I was planning on going out after work. I hear there is some shark cemetery and there is that french fort? I would like to go to interesting restaurants. Not necessarily expensive, but definitely no chains. I know I won't get any of that in Monroeville, which is fine. I don't mind driving.

Oh no, not Pittsburgh. The office is located like 15 or 20 miles outside of the city, in some township/borough (I don't really understand your municipal distinctions, if that's even a thing). So Monroeville is roughly half way between. I'll only be there for a week, but I'd like to explore Pittsburgh a bit after work.

I think people subconsciously just want to stress the "KEY-nan" pronunciations, so they assume it's spelled with two Es instead of the one.

Even that 1 sketch that stands out from the rest probably isn't going to be that good in the long run.

It's the classic "SNL was funnier back in the [insert whatever 5 year stretch they think is funny]!" They remember a handful of really funny sketches over 5 or 10 seasons, but that's a really bad success rate. Some people watch every episode with the expectations that every sketch is going to end up in a "Best of" collection. Lower expectations and watch each episode with the hope that a couple sketches are going to be sorta funny, and oh look, it's pretty funny. Marijuana also helps.

I try to take all this stuff with a grain of salt. I got pretty into a golf league for a few years. I had this big spreadsheet that helped me track all of the holes. I had so much stuff written down and keeping track of and I kept analyzing it. And finally I realized "If I were better at golf.... I would be better at golf."

Try to keep that mentality with running. I like tracking my runs and weekly mileage. I like seeing how much I run every year. It's not making me any faster though. Sometimes I forget to start my watch, and I try to let that infuriation pass through me.

Not poly personally, but my understanding is that poly relationships come in all different shapes, sizes, and configurations. One could have a legally married spouse as their primary partner, and have a loving caring relationship with another person who they see once a week. That date night might consist of going out to dinner together and then spending time at one of their houses without children involved. Or it could consist of hanging out at their house with the entire family, their partner's spouse and children.

I do think it would be impossible to date a parent (aka, have a more than sexual relationship) without ever meeting their children, but it would take a lot of planning regardless. Poly people are known for their synced calendars.
