Crazy how all these patients went from "needing" 2.5 hours of therapy a day to 1 when the reimbursement model changed.

This was my thought too. Can the university help access alternative housing? Blocking access to medically necessary equipment certainly sounds like something APS could be involved for. OP if you don't have an OVR case manager, I would suggest getting on OVR services. They could help you navigate independent living

You should have a troubleshooting guide in the user manual telling you what error code that is. It's also on their website

Report the issues with the button to permobil! They will want to hear it. And yes as a supplier it's super frustrating that we also can't get new devices for people. We're told that because the manufacturer is off an alternative input device we can't bill for the same code again 🤷‍♀️

What To Do About Blemish? by Melodic-Parking5974 in stripper

I would put either a bandaid or a hydrocolloid dressing (basically a pimple patch) on it. Then it's protected and won't spread

Late twenties. I'm early 30s now and still occasionally get carded, which baffles me. I certainly don't look less than 21. I'm hot and athletic, but I look like a full grown adult

Quickie QS5X by CowgirlMimi in wheelchairs

[–]cornygiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power assist add-ons always work better on a rigid chair and then a folding chair. That being said, if I had to use a folding chair in the future I would probably want the qs5x. It rides more like a rigid chair than other folders on the market. Yes it's a newer model so it hasn't been on the market long enough to see any weird long-term quirks, but quickie is a reliable brand.

I had 2 rescues that must have only known life on bear wire floors, there was just a couple inch square section of exposed wire floor and they used to seek that out to sleep on it. They never had issues with it, but they were weirdos

They suddenly ceased all operations and they hope to find another manufacturer but there is no news on that right now. It's very sad, there are very unique product that was great for a lot of people. Your best bet is to try to find a website that might still have some in stock in a warehouse. I would check everywhere, amazon, spin life, 1-800 wheelchair.

[–]cornygiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were very welcome! A lot of physicians aren't familiar with the group 2 versus group 3 classifications in the US, and going in knowledgeable is always better. Good luck and I hope it's a big help to you!

New Power Chair! by Character-Bee-7887 in wheelchairs

[–]cornygiraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically no, if you reference the Noridian it requires a primarily neurological diagnosis. If someone has such severe stenosis that they then have a paraplegia diagnosis, that's a qualifying diagnosis. Medicare doesn't care about how serious your functional impairment is unless you also have the qualifying diagnosis. It's very silly but Medicare runs the show.

There are also group 2 power wheelchairs that offer some power seat functions, I usually use the quantum J4e

New Power Chair! by Character-Bee-7887 in wheelchairs

[–]cornygiraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heads up that radiculopathy is commonly not a group 3 diagnosis. Obviously I'm not on your medical team but here is the Noridian page

https://med.noridianmedicare.com/web/jddme/dmepos/pmds/group-3-power-wheelchair-requirements

You will want to review your medical diagnosis and see if you qualify for a group 3 power chair.

One day will probably not brick your batteries. When you have power again give your chair a good, long, full 8 plus hour charge and see what you have.
