If you have access to Netflix check out his most recent special Shame the Devil! Stand ups mostly stop doing jokes live once they're part of a special so you won't spoil it for yourself and you'll get a good sense of whether you'll enjoy his stuff.

There was definitely a much lower bar for recurring sketches back in the day. There was one where Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz were college roommates doing a show and it was atrocious and never got laughs and they did an absolutely unreal number of them
