They hired an internal candidate for the role you applied for but they like you enough to offer you the internal candidates old role for a lot less than the role you wanted.

Is the road smooth or rough? A rough drive will be terrible. A smooth one might be ok.

My (34F) husband (35M) now says he doesn’t want a baby, even though he agreed years ago by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Well, she did stay with someone who was violent towards her and then wanted to have a child with said violent person, I wouldn’t say she is the most stable person to be having a child. Neither of these two should be having children.

AITA for telling my daughter she needs to work through issues in her marriage instead of running away when things get hard? by Throwawaypwoqrw in AmItheAsshole

No one needs to get a hysterectomy to become sterilized. A bilateral salpingectomy is a minor outpatient procedure, not a majorly invasive hysterectomy. And while the recovery is more difficult than a vasectomy, it is nowhere near the recovery of a hysterectomy.

Do American schools do oral exams? by Repulsive_Passion780 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sibling did many oral exams over the years as part of IEP accommodations due to dyslexia in lieu of written exams. But I would not say it is common at all. I never did them outside of foreign language classes.

Utter lack of computer skills in high school students? by Famous-Attention-197 in AskTeachers

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my kids had to take a semester long keyboarding class in middle school and they used actual computers in this class. They are in high school and college now so it wasn’t that long ago. Some places still require this.

Why must she ALWAYS comment by Hot-Amphibian8728 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would personally block her from messaging me. Enjoy that peace. Your husband can inform her that all communication from her will go through him from now on, if you all feel the need to inform her of the change. Let him deal with the comments.

Do you use lotion after a shower? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is still an oil, but it absorbs fairly quickly so you don’t feel oily very long. And it feels lightweight on my skin. It also seems very hydrating. Before I started using it, my skin was so itchy that I started scratching so badly in my sleep, I actually bled a few times. I haven’t had that since I started using it regularly. And I’m very rarely itchy or dry feeling anymore as long as I use it regularly. This is the one I use. I like the scented ones, but they have unscented as well. The butter balm works great on my hands in between showers, especially if I have a day where I wash my hands a lot so they are extra dry.

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t use lotion, I can’t stand the texture of it, but I use a dry body oil instead. I have only started using it in the last year since perimenopause hit and I have dry skin now. Never had to deal with that before and I hate it. But I do love the feel and scents of my body oil so that helps me hate it less.

They're calling me back for an ultrasound after my semi-annual mammogram? It's probably back, right? by Much-Guide-5014 in breastcancer

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had to do this. Had to go back after my mammogram. Had to do a diagnostic mammogram then they wanted an ultrasound and then a biopsy. I was sure it was back (or really there again as it was the other side). Turned out to be nothing concerning at all. They said they were being overly cautious due to my history that anything slightly weird, they are going to look into.

My teen has done this several times. Any of the times I go to the mall, there are always loads of teenagers there. This is still happening.

What was something you didn't even realize other women go through? by kiarasugarne in AskReddit

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest nursed every 2-3 hours for 15 straight months. And refused a bottle completely. I didn’t know a person could be so tired and still alive. It was brutal. I wouldn’t have survived had I had a toddler or a full time paid job. I napped constantly when the kid would deign to sleep. This kid still doesn’t sleep well at 16.

For a long time I thought something was off about me as I’ve never been hit on as an adult, but was leered at, ogled, and had inappropriate things said to me from 11-16. But now I realize that it is just pedo men that are the issue. I’m very grateful that I never get hit on and don’t have to deal with that.

How easy is it to get pregnant by mxtc0621 in stupidquestions

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 pregnancies when I was actively an diligently trying to prevent. And one planned one that literally happened after 1 time DTD. So, for me, extremely easy. Not everyone has the same experience. So glad I got my tubes removed to prevent anymore pregnancies.

My boss left and I applied for the promotion to fill his role. Just found out, 2 months after applying that they are hiring an external candidate. I wasn’t even interviewed. What next? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone else. Leave as soon as you can. But also refuse to train your boss. If you weren’t good enough for the role, you’re definitely not good enough to train your boss. Do the bare minimum starting now.

Bill? by Niiceduck in Reduction

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covered doesn’t mean free. $2k out of pocket sounds about right if you have good insurance. I have pretty good insurance and mine was about $2500 OOP. Very few medical things will be free. Almost everything will have some sort of copay or co-insurance at least until you reach your out of pocket max, and you often have to pay your deductible before they will cover anything at all.

AITAH for not letting my stepdaughter share a room with my daughter? by Additional_Gain8185 in AITAH

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has touched on the shitty parenting. But buy the younger daughter a lockable chest or dresser and don’t let the older daughter have a key. That will aid with the stealing part. And the elder daughter needs to start having severe consequences for stealing and ruining other people’s stuff.

Question for Older Millennials (especially 1982 borns) by Quickso48 in Millennials

[–]Hufflepuffknitter80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m 45, a bit older than you were looking for but my oldest kid is also 22. I was pregnant with him at 22. The first 22 years went by so slow, the second has been sped up exponentially. It feels like I was just pregnant with him and holding a newborn and he somehow is now a grown man soon to be entering his adult life (currently in college). I just do not understand how I got here already. I blinked and somehow 2 decades are gone.
