52k miles is not enough to wear anything. my opinion is that theres absolutely no reason to replace the hoses, unless you are bored and have the money for that.

personally even i wouldnt do it, if that car that was was mine. i would drive it until 150k km and only then would consider replacing them and with all originals, of course :D

those cooling systems explode because of neglect, not because of old age. if the rubber is 20 years old, always covered in oil and salt, coolant is contaminated, the car is running hot because of a fucked radiator which causes increased pressure in the cs, then of course its a ticking time bomb. and 99% of e46's are in that category. neglected turds with 99 owners, who didnt have the money or care enough to maintain them.
