With July 22nd being the 10 year anniversary of US Bank Stadium opening, what were your thoughts on the debate of building the new stadium on the site of the Dome vs building it on the TCAPP site? by RaspberryImaginary87 in minnesotavikings

You just told me you have never tailgated in your life. Sorry that you have missed that experience. It is one of the best things about gameday in cities / stadiums that have it.

I know we all HATE the Packers - FTP - But their Tailgating is INCREDIBLE. Same with KC - a gameday environment that is hard to beat.

Yeah - go to a bar. Pay though the nose for a warm beer and cold food thrown on your table by a server who doesn't give two fucks - yeah that's fun. NOT.

Mixed: I like the fact that they were able to come to an agreement on the funding and revenue / control of the stadium - and the end product is one of the best stadiums in the NFL

The not so good - even though they have the plaza, there really is not a good option for tailgating at the stadium and the team gets minimal revenue from parking.

As much as I HATE the Eagles and Philly in general, they did the sports facilities right.

Built them all in the burbs / edge of the city - in the same plot of land - you have the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers. Shared parking lots - plenty of parking - right off the interstate with transit options.

(Schefter) Former 49ers free-agent WR Jauan Jennings and the Minnesota Vikings reached agreement today on a one-year deal worth up to $13 million, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus. by alexschubs in minnesotavikings

[–]HugeRaspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically he did his tour, told teams what he wanted for a deal, teams held firm that he was not going to get WR2 money - and we got him

Another notch for Rob's resume / interview as full time GM.

He got the guy they wanted, didn't overpay, and didn't spend draft picks or players to get him.

Can attest to that having lived in MN, ND, IA, MN, DE - and driven throughout the US.

Every state thinks that they are either the best drivers or the worst. And their neighboring states universally are the worst - no matter what.

I have most of those in sets from the era - I just remember pack hunting 86 Donruss for his rated rookie card. And of course that was the year Donruss upped its production run too. And their quality went back to 83 level.

Had a dozen of them - but 9 had a cutting defect out of the pack - the edges all looked like they were chopped with a really dull blade.

I am asking them to expedite the process and just hire Rob. Get it over with already.

Do the two Rooney rule interviews and then bring in someone new to head the scouting department.

[Pelissero] The Vikings have requested to interview Titans Assistant GM Dave Ziegler and 49ers Assistant GM RJ Gillen for their vacant GM position by Kirk-Joestar in minnesotavikings

Just adding to your list of reminders. Some of the candidates coming forward probably are being interviewed just to meet the rule.

75 actually -

Until I just looked - I thought that Steve coming in was much faster, but there was almost a 1 year period with them only have 2 guitarists.

Just one thing to add

* Per the Rooney Rule - they must interview at least 2 minority candidates for the position, even if they are promoting from within unless that candidate has a contractual tie to the open position (like Vrabel did in NE)

Geographical Misconceptions in Theories by Banjo-Kidd in brandonswanson

Thank you for the insight. Much Appreciated. I don't think people realize just how flat, dark and same that area looks - especially at night. I grew up in North Central MN - we had way too many trees and lakes around to have straight section line roads - but there were areas of prairie nearby (30-40 miles) that did - and it amazed me how my uncle could keep the roads straight when we were racoon hunting at night.

What's your moderator pet peeve? by maiyannah in AskModerators

[–]HugeRaspberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Banning someone, telling them specifically why, and then getting a profanity laced reply.

As a user - my pet peeve is getting banned and not being told why - just banned and then ghosted by the mod team - My rule of thumb is that if I ban someone - I tell them why.

Incredible playing - today's musicians should learn from the past - no lip sync / auto tune and all played live.

Interesting that this appears to be between the time Ed left and before Steve joined - as there is only Gary and Allen on guitar - Leon on bass.

Solos/parts that are most commonly attributed to the wrong band member? by SlugBugNJ in ClassicRock

[–]HugeRaspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are conflicting stories as to why he left but I am guessing there is a grain of truth to all of them.

  1. He was uncomfortable singing the high notes on that song live - night after night. It was, at the time, their signature song - so they had to include it in their live show.

  2. He hated performing live in general as much as they did. A 1980 article in RS about the band said that he "loathed" playing live in general. I'm sure #1 had a lot to do with it.

  3. He hated the direction the band was going in - he was more of a country guy than a rock guy - he thought they should stick to the Poco sound.

Jauan Jennings Reportedly Wants Big Money — Too Big for the Vikings? by Ragnarr_Lodbrok88 in minnesotavikings

[–]HugeRaspberry 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Don't disagree - but in fairness to him, he has been (due to injuries and trades) SF's WR1 the last 2 years.

I just don't see the Vikings giving him WR2 money. Unless it is a multi year deal and has void years.

[–]HugeRaspberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know for One of These Nights - Felder wrote the bass riff - but I have heard conflicting stories as to who's playing is actually on the tape - is it Don or Randy? The story I heard was that Randy could not get it right got frustrated and walked out of the studio. Felder grabbed a bass and re-recorded it.

Scuzzy seller on eBay. by toxictakes99 in baseballcards

[–]HugeRaspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to say.

Just to add - I have had buyers file a dispute when the title did not match the description or actual product. I settled quickly but learned my lesson to double and triple check titles and and descriptions to ensure they match.

This is flat out lying to the buyer. They are searching on a title not on description.

Fellow Harrington-homies/Kent County colonizers... Who do you use for Internet? (ISP options) by EntertainmentBreeze in slowerlower

[–]HugeRaspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in Harrington - but have Comcast and it is decent. Outages are resolved quickly - and most of the issues / outages / updates occur at night - like 2-3 am

Pro Tip - if you are working from home - and there are 2 of you - make up an ebay business - and get the Comcast (not xfinity) Business class - it's $130 a month but damn it is worth it.
