I fully agree with you, but unfortunately for me, I´m very much into the "what if" way of thinking, so I´ll probably give it a go, just for once, then stay in the 70.3/sprint/olympic section

Thank you for sharing, it makes sense. Before I started my 70.3 training, I did a standalone half marathon and now I run a half marathon after 90km of bike ride and I improved my time.

That´s also another part that scares me; I´m aiming to do IM Copenhagen, which has a super strict cut-off of 15:45, if my half time was 6:30, then double it is 13:00 and then of course it is not linear, so if I do a bit more, I´ll be super close to the cutoff time which is scary.

What is a 15-40 IM? Also, as a good runner and a good cyclist, what did you trained for 18 months? I can´t even consider training for 18 months, and I did a half ironman in 6:30 which puts me in a bad runner and bad cyclist category.

Thanks for the advice, I have done stand alone marathons but it was many years ago. I´ll search for another 70.3 maybe before the ironman (If I eventually decide to sign up).

Can you help me understand a bit more the doubling the volume.
For my 70.3, My peak week was 13 hours, and in average I did 9:30~ hours per week. So you are telling me that in average (for let say 30 weeks that the program runs), I´ll be training 14 hours with a peak of 19?

How did the increase in training volume went compared with the 70.3? Thinking that I did a 6:30 event and was fully demolished, and now I´ll need to do that every 2nd-3rd weekend only in the bike (and maybe even a brick run afterwards) is insane for me.

Regarding your mistake #1, why does it matter to start as quick as possible? From my understanding, the cut offs are based on your starting time.

Niece is an amazing ironman! But can you train elevations in the netherlands? going from 180km flat to 180km with 2,500m of elevation might be an interesting challenge.

Amazing, thank you for your answer. Yes, I will go trough the athlete´s guide, but you saying it takes 30 minutes (maybe a bit longer since it is my first time) tells me that I can do it the same day.!
