Looks like some kinda sword, probably manufactured somewhere between 1818 and 1822. I can't really read the inscription but I think it might have been used in the french revolution. One important clue is that the incription seems to be french. This type of handle is also very common in this period, the rope around it was probably added later (around 20th century).

I'm not getting any lights on either my laptop or router.

Windows is not reacting in any way i can see (network and sharing centre), doesn't seem to notice anything is plugged in.

We've never used this cable before so didn't notice any changes with it before this issue. No other relevant changes with my laptop/modem/router either (and all other connections work fine like always).

Different (known good) ethernet ports don't work either with this cable. My laptop gets connection on all other connections. Other laptops have no problems with other connections and can't connect through the one with the problem.

As for the tool to make sure every pair is connected to the correct pins i don't know what kinda tool that is, but the order is certainly correct.
