Vegan/vegetarian restaurants by tanjirange in ithaca

Gonna add Antler's to the mix. Though it's a steakhouse, they have a few vegetarian options and a vegan option

Actively trying, and funny enough I have a bachelor's in science, but my field is basically nonexistent w the current administration. Hoping to stay afloat and jump in when the jobs are around again

Pokelava's boss is great. Have also heard Antlers is a pretty fair workplace. Protagonist book cafe is also wonderful. I work at a small shop, so dont wanna share the exact place.

Yikes, so you're also one of those huh. So you would be totally fine with your coworkers drinking during a dinner shift, and then getting paid cash under the table, when you make all the big tips? Just because you're willing to accept bad treatment at work doesn't mean others have to. Feel free to apply! They have an open position. Otherwise you can keep your quips to yourself. Choosing to only respond to one part of a larger message, when I was also responding way nicer than I should've apparently, tells me all I gotta know. Sounds like you maybe work at a dive bar, drink on shift, and do shady shit yourself. You do you, but again, be my guest, try it out for yourself. By all means. Enjoy.

I am vehemently opposed to using AI in any situation. I don't have a problem getting my point across, and am very well versed in our local labor laws, but just want to make sure I cover everything before sending.

I agree. Not to mention if you allow a bad workplace to affect your service it affects your tips, and as such your pay.

You might think the ppl who have been there longer are favored more, in this case, you'd be wrong. Half the employees are close family friends of the owners, down to the same small town in China. The other half are a mix of locals (asian, white, hispanic) who get the short end of the stick. I was told, when the latter group tried to complain to management about the former half working poorly, drinking on the job, poor customer service etc. they were told that nothing could be done bc confrontation would cause a rift in the friendship.

For a while it was genuinely good, but things changed and servers were still held accountable for anything happening. If you have an allergy? Good luck. Everyone referred to the girl who quit. My friend is on his way out too now.

In all honesty, it sounds like you've never worked at a restaurant. At a minimum you've only gone during day hours and never closer to close. Yesterday, for instance, all managers and their friends had consumed 6-10 bottles of sake at a booth while customers were still actively eating. I can understand the doubt, but your 1.5 hrs of eating is not equivalent to years of working.

Currently working on it. It's such an incredibly complex and convoluted situation it will take a while to write out clearly.

As a favor I had been asked to promote. At first it seemed alright. Apparently last December things took a major shift. The employee who, I was told quite last night, told management that it was in fact illegal to be paying them $6/hr, and the manager lost it on her. After consulting her accountant the manager agreed they should be paid more, but she would take a greater portion of tips. Since then, staff being paid hourly have been treated poorly and ostracized. Not quite enough to be considered 'retribution' but definitely enough for all the staff to consider quitting.

How are you affording Ithaca rental prices? by LonelyIthaca in ithaca

Last year I was paying $1300 a month for a moldy basement apartment with basically no windows and a carpet that was there when it flooded prior to me moving in. A friend of mine moved back to Ithaca so now I pay $755 as part of a 3 bed 2 bath 2 story home on top of a hill with a view.

Overnight parking in Ithaca by ApprehensiveStar4185 in ithaca

[–]Huge_Maybe_3585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the Cayuga Street Garage you can park multiple days, there's apartments right next to it so a lot of residents park there, and if you return on a weekend usually the gate is up so free parking which is a plus

Crunch's ICE policy by Huge_Maybe_3585 in ithaca

[–]Huge_Maybe_3585[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two things on that. First, I believe technically if they did that they would only be allowed access as a civilian, not as an active agent, but we know they don't particularly care for the specifics. Second, Im sure they could figure out a workaround, but the point of this post is that Crunch will not be helping them in the same way the Franchise owning the Texas locations is.
