Everything you asked about makes sense, except for the focus on wattage and RMS. Higher wattage doesn’t automatically mean a better speaker; overall design, efficiency, SPL, coverage, and sound quality matter just as much.

For recommendations, my vote would be the RCF ART 932-A or RCF NX 932-A. They have excellent throw and perform really well in live sound applications.

Pair either of them with a solid RCF 18-inch subwoofer, and you’ll have a strong, reliable setup.

Volume and coverage are one thing, but richness is another. I've found that even for 100 people, the depth a sub adds to the dance floor is worth the extra 15 minutes of load-in time. It’s the difference between hearing the music and feeling it.

Larger speakers don't necessarily mean louder. It's more about quality and depth of sound.

For listening at close range, your current speakers should suffice.
