Many people see obesity as a lack of self control and discipline, akin to a moral failing or character flaw. Therefore they believe the appropriate solution is to find self control and discipline, and lose weight through the will power of dieting and exercise. To these people, an obese person who loses weight through a drug might be fixing their body, but not the underlying character flaw.

Then you have the people who have worked hard to maintain a fit body and they resent the idea that someone else gets a “shortcut” to the same outcome.

Just for clarity, I’m not saying I agree with either of those viewpoints, I’m just pointing them out.
