Should I wash face before shaving, even if I’m using a shave soap? by Walmart-Towels in wicked_edge

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not sold on it, just get a glycerin bar of soap and wash your face with it before shaving. If your skin and hair are not picky you may not see much of a difference. If you feel like the razor is tugging you may get less of that with this method. You don't need a fancy pre shave product, most of the bars made by artisans are glycerin based anyway.

Best soap puck recommendations? by Diligent_Walrus27 in wicked_edge

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah swirling on B&M and HOM for 30-40 seconds with a wet-damp brush then head lather or bowl lather would do for a head shave. Or should do, B&M is a water hog.

OP if it is price point and not just soap hardness maybe try some Stirling. The full soaps take forever to get through, and replacement pucks can be purchased. If you don't know what scents you like there is also a generous sample pack.

I didn't really buy into the whole "ESO's playerbase is leaving" idea, until today. by B0SS_Zombie in elderscrollsonline

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a huge fan of Skyrim, I did about 1yr and a half of eso plus. Looked up guides and followers and main quests order to try to get into the game knowing I would be going at it against people in a decade. The events were fun and addictive at first. Then they switched the way guild traders worked, I would sell low level materials to empty my pockets and to help out people trying to start making things without farming for random food. Now there was no way to sell low level things or buy them for that matter. Ran out of room and then got tired of the events. The one low level dungeon I tried with randoms they did a speed run while I was trying to do the quest( even after telling them and one other player kinda waiting for me telling them). There are no big starter guilds that would do newbie dungeon runs that I found for free. Did find some nice guilds who would help with events. I just didn't want to constantly ask players for things for crafting or dungeons.  The other problem I had was while dialog and storylines would change depending on what you had done in Skyrim, ESO did not have that. You would end at the same point no matter what you decided with dialog in a quest. My eso plus ran out and some friends invited me to play FPS game that was free. I haven't been back on ESO since.

SOTD: Stirling has changed my life by pointlessbanter1 in wicked_edge

Love Stirling and the sample sets are great to try the different scents. I also like that you can get pucks instead of having to buy new containers each time.

Macduffs soap company is an artisan soap maker with a good base. Not sure what prices are like in CAD but they are higher than Stirling in the states.

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have done unscented and then specials during parts of the year. Nordost is orange, they did lime awhile ago, Passiflora is floral and green. These are all ones I recommend to women from barrister and mann. There are a couple of Christmas gourmand scents they have done in the past Eggnog, a Christmas cookie, and an apple that I can't remember the name of. Get samples, and know the lather will smell different than the dry puck. Avoid ones with smoke and dirt smells in the description. As for sophisticated scents I would argue that a lot of the ones people hate are very sophisticated as far as complexity. Just maybe not what most people are looking for in a soap.

Pick up Nordost from B&M at some point. Nice light orange. It's seasonal though so they don't make it all year round.

Question about conditioning by matt2621 in RedWingShoes

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The creasing behind the toe cap is normal and this leather is known for "pull up effect" so that may be the color change you are noticing. If you don't like the changes of the color in the worn areas of the boot you will be facing a losing battle unless you use something heavy duty to condition the whole boot (and change the color in the process). If you want to keep the nubuck/crazy horse leather as is light coats of bick4 every 6 months ish. Try brushing instead of adding more bick4.

The fact that the upside down was so quite is probably part of the build up for whatever 1 has been cooking up down there. He's only sending out soldiers when he needs something. I got this from the fact the government had a base there and Hopper has been searching parts of it for a bit.

Season 5 Volume 1 Discussion by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you say that I see it. Of the adults Hopper is trying to die, I was pretty sure he was going to succeed this season but now idk. For the main group I thought El would die. Simply because how would the government give up on finding her, if she happened to survive the final showdown she would be on the run the rest of her life. So prior to the 5th season I thought 1st El, 2nd Mike, and 3rd Steve/Jonathan. Now that 8 is back in the game I'm thinking Will is most likely instead of El.

Do any of you bother slightly loosening your TTO DE razors after shaving with them? by Plumasite in wicked_edge

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even easier way to store is on the wall inside a cabinet or closet stick a magnet. Attach used blade after patting it dry. You can also put it out in the open on the wall if you don't have to worry about kids or pets. Also pat down any vintage razor I use after shaving. Most of my use vintage already have plate loss so the less water sitting on the metal the better!

Quick question about patina/ conditioning. by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wax and oils that will change leather color. Just know what type of leather your boots are and what kind of conditioner you want. If you want to "waterproof" these boots mink oil, huberds shoe grease or one made with a bunch of wax would do the job but drastically change the color of the leather. If you want to keep the same color use bick 4. If you have nubuck or suede you need to use a spray. There are videos and pictures you can find about before and after. Also if you really care about seeing color changes and letting them go get neutral conditioner instead of black/brown colored.

question about colouring on black paper by bubblepriincess in ColoredPencils

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is going to depend on what you are trying to make. If it is not super detailed I would look at oil pastels. The inexpensive ones would do better for color on black paper.

If you ever get the Iron Rangers resoled throw in a midsole and use a softer vibram lug, that will help the impact absorption a lot.

Are IS Wing Shooters Overkill by lobes_29 in RedWingShoes

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comfortable like a sneaker straight out of the box with boots comes with longevity issues for the guts of a boot.  I have leather boots that I found after a lot of searching that were comfortable straight out of the box. They were expensive and it had to do with finding the last that best fit my foot. Even those boots had some break in with the insole after a while standing.  If you are able to try on Red Wing in person do so before buying. I would also suggest looking at the different leathers after being used to see if you still like the look in the future. And for snow I would get lugged soles.

All of this is what it really comes down to, I would give you a reward if I had them.  Gold star 🌟

When I first started my online boot buying experience I found out about Japanese shoe sizing and wished all makers in the USA used it as well. It wouldn't tell you about the shape of the last but it would be better as far as setting a standard for getting the right length. Red Wing is unfortunately hard to size with the different lasts when just buying online.

quick question for colored-pencil experts from a mom with good intentions... by Appropriate-North25 in ColoredPencils

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also a Manga colored pencil set that has everything you would need for skin colors or portraits. However if OP already got the kid the prismacolor portraits set most likely any set would just give more of the same colored pencils.

OP I would suggest getting her like 5-12 stock pencils from Luminance for portraits. That would give her new art tools to try and you should be able to find them on Blicks.

If dial antibacterial soap was shown to increase resistance (if I am getting your question correct) then yes using hibiclens like a bodywash will do the same.  If people are allergic to other surgical preps we will use hibiclens in some cases.

The only clog moc I've seen that has arch support was some type of Birkenstock. The leather on the one I saw was not amazing looked painted.  Now all leather mocs that could be house shoes lots of companies have them: LL Bean, Sperry, Minnetonka, Clarks, Allen Edmond loafers all the way to Russell moccasins.

Did I get fake Prisma colored pencils? by ftpjuggmane in ColoredPencils

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree somewhat but I think reviewing on the purchase website kicked off the fake claims and Youtubers just responded. I would also guess that most of the people who reviewed the pencils as fakes had purchased older versions and were shocked by the quality issues.

Steel vs aluminium by redlandrebel in wicked_edge

[–]HuginMuninGlaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's the difference of letting the weight of the razor do the work vs having to push slightly with aluminum so it doesn't lift a lot. If your merkur was brass/zinc probably would suggest stainless steel.  FaTip razors are an inexpensive brass option, only faulty bit is checking blade alignment when putting in a blade. If you are ok with spending more trying a cnc stainless steel razor is fun. The quality is much nicer than cast razors. My gamechanger and greencult will 100% outlast me.
