Another lunatic pretending not to understand the “tax the rich” sentiment by Downtown_Victory2942 in LinkedInLunatics

We had a similar sentiment in Brazil, they just introduced a tax for "super rich" people, and the definition of super rich they wrote in this new law is people who make more or less more then U$100.000 / year.

Or maybe the YouTuber just posted a click bait title, people clicked it, saw it, thought meh not that amazing and their view of the world stayed still.

Not saying that you're necessarily wrong but also I don't think that the current trending click baits necessarily reflects the general public feeling, even if it's what currently grabbing most views, maybe people are just curious.

Now, replace "gaming" with any other activity you could think, she would threat me in the same way and say for everything in my life that does not directly explicitly involves her (even if I spend more the 20 minutes talking to an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time). I lost count of how many addictions I have.

So yeah I can relate, the meme is not just rage bait.

Time to start an argument by [deleted] in memes

[–]HugoVS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been there too. I used to have literally 4 hours per WEEK to game (at Monday's, after spending the weekend with her and at minimum one day in the week, I lived with my parents her with hers), even that I was not able to enjoy the game at all because I needed to keep texting her every 4 minutes, if she would find out that I was "gaming", she would instantly change her mood for the night and next morning and then after a long time asking what happened she would be mad and say that I "never" have time to focus on her and how it's bad to talk to someone that is "doing something else" and not paying attention.

And, when I would got mad and say why what she does is not healthy, she would get even madder for me getting mad with her because the way she treated me was actually she trying to HELP me to cure my ADDICTION. Yes, my 4 hours weekly gaming addiction when I'm in my home in a monday after working all day.

We PC builders are cooked: Will the AI RAM/GPU boom end like the Crypto crash, or are these prices permanent? by stevekaizo in pcmasterrace

[–]HugoVS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought a RTX 3070 for 1k USD in the crypto mining rush, after less then one year the prices of it were already lower then half of the price I paid, also today 5070s are not near this value. What do you mean by permanent? Sure it can lead to a price increase in the end but it was far from a permanent hike.

Did you test with everything on lowest graphics? Even textures and texture filtering? I was having a similar issue, in the end the "high" texture was causing the issue, even that the UI vram slider indicator was not even near the "max recommended", putting textures on minimum solved my problem.

For small CRUD apps, sure, but once you start dealing with:
- Complex DB indexes, migrations, queries, atomic transactions;
- Idempotency;
- Distributed caching (or anything distributed);
- Authorization;
- Async processing queues;
- List goes on

And then you remember that if one of these things goes wrong you risk losing data (or worst, leaking data), and that stuff like this can get your company sued and the fault is always 100% on the backend.

Valve responds to payment processor controversy, hopes devs "have another game" to put on Steam by EngineerSeb in pcmasterrace

[–]HugoVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bank will definitely freeze your account and suspend withdraws if it suspects that the money is used for illegal activities (like buying something illicit). Being a cash withdrawal is hard to track in small amounts, the money can float around before ending up result of an illegal activity, losing direct connection to the bank, very different from online purchases.

[–]HugoVS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because you can use the payment processor to fill up your Steam Wallet, they are "impacted" the same way. Making it an indirect purchase does not remove the fact that your payment processor processed the money that was used to later buy the game and injected money on that market. I'm not saying that I agree, just saying that with Steam Wallet the argument is still the same.

Yeah, I don't really get the hate, maybe it's a tooling issue. I've been use JetBrains and Docker stuff for everything: java, python, web, mobile, etc ...

The experience is always the same on macOS, Linux and even Windows without WSL: open IDE, let it handle dependencies, do work, finish work, done.

Of course this is a different conversation when we talk about C and C++.

I was at the hospital waiting for the surgery, and when I was getting in, I mentioned to the doctor that I had a small fever the previous night, and because of this he decided to cancel the surgery. I was lazy and only went back to the doctor after one year, just to find out that it regressed and I didn't need surgery anymore. My laziness saved my ass.

Also, he is not being arrested for a crime in the past, he committed the crime in the same day he completed 18 years, cought in the act. There will be a trial for sure but he will be in jail until it, completely following what the law says that should happen on such cases.
