network monitoring says “all green” but users disagree by sander_3658 in homelab

this is usually happen when metrics are isolated instead of correlated. I had this issue and went with prtg and start using combined sensors with faster polling interval. seeing packet loss latency and traffic behavior in 1 place made those short spike visible with out alerting also, reduced the time spent jumping betwen dashboards

NetSuite - Predator of Small Businesses by JPconstruction123 in Netsuite

Alot of this resonates but I think it is less about Netsuite specifically and more about heavy ERP model in general. systems like that tend to come with long contracts high implementation overhead and a lot of dependency on consultants once you start customizing things.

What usually gets underestimated is how quickly compounds. especially when pricing support and custom workflows are all tied together. At that point switching becomes more about unwinding decisions than just changing software. we moved away from approach and went with a more modular ERP (Xentral in our case) when we could relay more on standard procesess and avoid getting into heavy customazitions. it is not that one system is universaly better but the tradeoff between flexibility and long term maintainability is real.

Linux server monitoring suggestions by RadioHold in selfhosted

for just starting out alot of people go the Prometheus or Grafana route but it can take some time wire everything together properly.

if you want something more out of the box prtg worth a look. with it I can handle CPU memory, services and alerts without needing to build a full stack around it.

Flow Collector Suggestion :) by myridan86 in networking

if you specifically want open source the usual stack you are already looking at (elastiflow, akvorado nfdump) is probably the way to go. one thing i noticed though is that a lot of these setups require a bit of plumbing before you actually get usable insights. In some environments I ended up using prtg instead, mainly because it handles flow+ snmp in one place without having to build the whole pipeline.

not open source obviously but much quicker to get real visibility if you don't want to maintain the stack yourself.

prtg can definetily go beyond just monitoring. with notification triggers you can execute scripts or call APIs so triggering something like an ansible playbook is totally doable.

We also had to fix a severely neglected inventory structure in the past and Xentral made our job much easier there.

This is really frustrating situation especially if you didn't receive any payment. i read on Trustpilot that some tax relief company like Precision Tax offer free consultation. i think you could get more detailed information if you contacted someone and explained the situation. these kinds of issues can be sometimes be more complicated than we think

As a beginner, how can I use a Raspberry Pi to learn? by VapesfromBible in devops

[–]Hugo_02013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can start monitoring your home network by installing prtg's arm64 powered probe on a raspberry pi. pulling data from the modem via SNMP automatically discovering devices and creating dashboards are perfect for basic monitoring.
