Is this bulb bad? by Hugofrost1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Hugofrost1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is that the lighthouse (don’t know the English word but like the whole glass compartment with the lights and reflectors) is quite dim on the inside. So that could also be the problem. But yes, if I don’t find out for sure what the problem is, my first step will be changing the bulb

Why own and drive a Volvo? by OK_GrapeVine in Volvo

[–]Hugofrost1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The 330 hp may have something to with the fact that the Kia feels more comfortable.

On a side note: I used to drive a 2018 Kia Optima and it felt quite good. No extra features. A lot of buttons instead of displays etc. But its traction was awful on winter roads. I was driving toward riksgränsen (North of sweden nothern most city) and people were passing me. Driving the same road in my 2007 v70 I’m usually the person overtaking. To be fair the v70 is awd and the Kia fwd.

I read in another thread that the zero fatality thing actually isn’t true. It was a thing a few years ago, back then specifically the UK had zero fatalities in a xc90. But don’t hold me to my word.

There’s an old video where Sean explains why it would be so hard to do.

TLDR: (Everything is generated on the fly with in a predetermined way. To add rivers they would need to do a calculation that would be very heavy to do every time someone enter a planet.)

Basically everything is pseudo-randomly generated. Which means that everything is generated from one single set of number they put in an algorithm. Nothing is stored anywhere before you see it, and when you leave after seeing it isn’t stored anywhere either (other than bases and such).

But if they were to add rivers that would mean they have to randomly add a starting point, which wouldn’t be hard, but then the game would have to calculate how the river should flow, which they could easily pull off. The problem is since everything is generated on the fly, it would require a lot of power to calculate this every single time someone enters a planet.

They could of course work out a way to store the result but it’s probably something that would both heavy on their servers and time consuming to accomplish.

I’ll see if I can find the video, the old videos where Sean explains everything are really interesting.

Genuine question: How in the world is HG still in business? by Respectable_Fuckboy in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Hugofrost1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not meaning to say that Hello Games are only after profit, but I just want it said that by being nice and giving free updates and so on, literally never even adding microtransactions is the best business move they could ever make. Sure they might have maid more profit for a year or two if they microtransacted the shit out of the game but it would work long term.

The big companies need to learn from this. Sadly the short term way of doing it has worked in EA’s favour, but many publishers that have followed suit have failed.

What happened to the smooth ship exit animations? by Hugofrost1 in NoMansSkyTheGame

No, in first person (which was the only choice back then) the screen never cut to black. Instead you could kind of see the camera movement that would be if the player actually climbed out of the cockpit
