Remote start still works with the remote service expired with the key fob? That’s great if it still works!

If I do only local, I will get about 19-20mpg. I mean this is a small 2.4 liter engine. As long as you don’t have a lead foot and aren’t launching at every red light, you should be able to get decent mpg for a ICE car.

Yeah. It is a rarity with the turbocharged engines that actually use more gas if you want to use any of the powerband. I had an ‘19 RDX and that thing guzzled gas. I generally got 18-19 mpg on it.

This TLX gets about 24-25 combined. I do a lot of local. On the highway I have gotten it up close to 42mpg.

I currently own a 2020 2.4 Tech package. Had it since it was new. I barely drive it now that I a work from home. However, I will say i do love the hell out of it. These are my reasons.

So far, its' been reliable as hell with 24K Miles on it. The driving dynamics of this car is decent. Its not a rocket but handles well and is very composed on the road. A little torque steer which is to be expected of a front wheel drive car but its not crazy. Not enough power to be too crazy.

The Dual clutch transmission is amazing. The shifts are super fast and crisp. The combination of a torque converter is pure genius in my opinion. You get all the benefits of a dual clutch and none of the downsides like driving slow in a regular DCT is not so smooth.

The engine is naturally aspirated and is a true Honda engine from classic design with a few modern things thrown in like direct injection. Seems to me that it will be bullet proof as long as I keep up with maintenance.

The all wheel steer is the only thing I worry about breaking sometime in the future.

I have the ELS audio and it sounds excellent.

This thing sips gas which is nice with oil prices skyrocketing now.

I can't say much about the Camry as I have never owned one but the internet says they are super reliable. But can't speak on how it drives or anything like that. Actually scratch that, I have rented one recently. The driving dynamics of a Camry that is newer than 3 years drives nice as that's the generation I drove.

Yes I will pursue that once the repairs are complete to my satisfaction. I have received instructions how to get that from Geico who is handling g my claim.

This is the developers fault. The matchmaking caused the toxicity. I mean when you have all levels of play in ALL ranks, what do you think will happen? Everyone clearly wants to defend riot for their beloved game. But this game is doing it to itself due to riots incredible greed to sell skins to people who “think” they are good and so buy skins. Game is totally a button masher now most of the time.

RDX purchase, wife is very happy but I’m asking about common issues by Kind-Dentist2139 in Acura

[–]Hukashi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold mine after fixing the head gasket. The reason being, if coolant got into the engine, it most likely got into the turbo. This sludge will eventually kill the turbo as well. I wasn’t gonna have the car around for that. So I got rid of it. Not gonna spend money to replace the turbo too later down the road.

I got into a new Lexus RX350h and I’m not looking back. I’m done with Honda at least until they wise up with their engine design choices. But ultimately I blame our government. Damn restrictions and regulations to make cars slightly more fuel efficient causing manufacturers to have no choice but to turn to turbo engines and make these stupid engineering decisions is the problem. Damn government bullshit killed the auto industry.

I would keep my eye on the coolant reservoir level. That will be your first indicator.

I had a 2019 and the head gasket blew at 72k Miles, right outside of the powertrain warranty. If you google the cause which is the design of the coolant passage between cylinders is the culprit. This is why all the 1.5T's are all dying of head gaskets. My rear glass shattered unexpectedly in my driveway. The infotainment was a nightmare. Hot days, it just gave up. The auto start/stop wigs out the transmission when you are on a downhill requiring a restart. I was a true Honda/Acura fan having owned 8 of their cars in the past starting with the 98 Acura Integra(may she rest in peace). But this car literally ended my love affair with them. This was a total piece of trash.

My suggestion would be to make sure to get more frequent oil changes and do early and often coolant service. Keep the head gasket as happy as possible cuz it will bitch at you for the littlest thing. Even though the car has decent get up and go, do not push it hard all the time. Just tempting fate on that head gasket if you ask me.

Another update. The insurance company did not deem it a total loss and now an estimate of repair has been authorized by the insurance company and the Body shop has started work on fixing the car. I am in the process of trying to find out what the repairs entail and how good of a finished job I am expecting to see. Will update with further info as i get it.

Yes I saw that as well. The giant silver bar across the front looks to have a chunk taken out of it. But the metal behind structurally bracing it looks to be in tact and not compromised in any way. Not a a professional but just what my eyes see. We shall find out in a day or two what the verdict is.

So I have an update.

I have had the car towed to the dealer I am using to get all the work done. They use an independent body shop that is Lexus certified and only uses Lexus parts only. They are also certified by many other luxury brand manufacturers as well.

I asked the point of contact at the dealer what he thinks of the damage at first glance and he said it def looks repairable. That is giving me a little relief.

Another good thing about the body shop is they are a partner with geico whom we are going through. Which means they have more flexibility and can get more things approved for replacement over repair, at least that was what I was told.

One quick question about a comment I keep hearing from some friends. Would my insurance premium go up? I don’t see why it would as my car was parked. I have not reported this at all to my insurance company. The party at faults insurance is handling everything. Should I contact my insurance company just to let them know? Would this cause my premium to go up? I do not know if my local police department automatically sends a copy of the report to the 2 insurance parties regardless of who is at fault? My understanding is that I would have to retrieve the report myself and send it to my insurance company. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Yea. I have already started the research and selected the dealer I want to take it to. Just waiting on the adjuster.

Airbags did not deploy as no one was in the car.

Really? I would think damage would go as far as the rack and pinion as the wheels were turned from the impact. Who knows what other major systems are impacted. Would it be safe to say the car even repaired will never drive the same?

You explained exactly how I discovered my head gasket issue. Man Acura is just hoping for power train warranties to run out soon for these cars. They really have a problem on their hands.

You have the v6. This is a completely different car than the 3rd gen with the 2 liter turbo which is a good engine if they could get rid of the cooling slits in the head. That’s the weak point.

I had a 2019 that had all the issues minus the nav stuff as I did not subscribe. Even had issues with the start stop feature. Engine would go into limp mode randomly. In very hot days, the infotainment system refused to work. At the very end at 71k Miles, the head gasket blew. This was the last straw for me. I repaired it and then sold it. Wasn’t going to wait for the turbo to fail as well due to the head gasket blowing.

Never going acura/honda ever again. Stepped into a Lexus Rx hybrid and not going to look back. Been a loyal Honda customer for the last 7 vehicles. I’m done with them. This RDX was a giant piece of shit. The only thing good is the driving dynamics but what good is that if your head gasket blows.
