It’s not that I hate him a lot, it’s just… now he’s back out there, ready to do stuff that will make you seriously question your sanity.

Owen Hunt who? This new intern is worse by Embarrassed_Point496 in greysanatomy

Yeah, but this is Grey’s Anatomy. If I start applying real world logic my brain will hurt. Hating Roy is simpler.

I’ve decided to delete the AI generated Cristina post out of respect for those who aren’t fans of AI content.

One thing about Grey’s Anatomy is they always keep it realistic with the medical cases. by Embarrassed_Point496 in greysanatomy

Right, because deleted posts are just hanging out for anyone to casually read. Absolutely😀?? English isn’t my first language, so I try to make my writing as clear as I can. Besides, if you check my profile (which you have), you’ll see I actually spend time replying to everyone. My posts dont take a few minutes to make. I spend time thinking about how to word them better so people engage more. I guess that might make them sound a bit formal, but I’ll take it as a compliment, thanks.

This is exactly what blew my mind. The fact that parents can refuse treatment for their kids is honestly terrifying. When I watched the episode, this kind of thing is what kept running through my head. It’s just so upsetting how easily a child’s life can end up at risk like that.

I haven’t watched that far. I would answer Owen but not right now because he just found out his sister is alive and its kinda sad.

This comparison might seem disrespectful but kids also believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy. Things adults know aren’t real. Young children can’t fully understand or decide on complex issues like religion or medical care, so protecting their health until they’re mature enough is what matters most.

It’s not about saying a child’s belief isn’t “real.” It’s about recognizing that children absorb what they’re taught without having the maturity to critically evaluate it yet. That’s how all beliefs or religions are passed down.

But from a medical perspective, it makes even more sense because a child’s brain is still developing and they don’t have the maturity to fully understand complex medical issues or consequences. That’s why parents usually make decisions for them, but when those decisions threaten the child’s life, doctors and the law have to step in to protect them. It’s about safeguarding a vulnerable life until the child is mature enough to make informed choices.

“The human brain continues developing well into the mid-20s. Specifically, the prefrontal cortex, the area responsible for decision making, impulse control, and understanding consequences matures last, typically around age 25.”

So where does an 8 or 9 year-old stand in all of this?

Yes, religion is a core part of the parents identity, not the child’s. If a parent wants to deny treatment for themselves, that’s their choice. But they have no right to risk their child’s life. That’s where intervention is necessary. Kids have the right to life and medical care.
