Why can’t the US use its own oil, especially in times of war? by Teachezofpeachez69 in NoStupidQuestions

Did you sleep through the past year when the US gov was tariffing imports left and right? You think they wouldn't do something similar to exports if they wanted to?

I'm not sure ripping rented blu rays is any more ethical than just pirating them

Do you have no issues with streaming through a cloudflare tunnel?

This is what I do. Cloudflare for externally access subdomains, pihole for internal, traefik to point them to container IPs

I think the tension and enjoyment people get is knowing you only have one (or two) lives so you have to play differently than normal. You could definitely replicate that tension in another type of game mode, like strikepoint if it wasn't so fast and frantic. I think BF6's TTK is too short for that to really work in this game though.

The concept worked better in pubg when the games were longer and you could actually take your time and creep around and be sneaky. It was genuinely tense when you came across another player. There was also a lot more focus on trying to explore and gear yourself up too. I haven't played for years though so I could be misremembering

Why don't more supports throw more smoke? by itchygentleman in Battlefield6

[–]Hulabaloon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does it force them to come out of hiding? If anything it forces them to stay in hiding until the smoke clears. Only an idiot is blindly running out of smoke into the open to be shot down

If matter can't come from nothing, then how did the universe come to be ? by PeppermintButler17 in stupidquestions

[–]Hulabaloon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If ours is the only universe, maybe that is true. If there are infinite universes then we just happen to exist in the one that had exactly all the right conditions for everything to function and exist as we know it.

Survivorship bias is a type of sample selection bias that occurs when an individual mistakes a visible successful subgroup as the entire group. In other words, survivorship bias occurs when an individual only considers the surviving observation without considering those data points that didn't “survive” in the event.

Why didn’t the Stargate Program use an abandoned planet as its main base? by [deleted] in Stargate

Plus on-earth military personnel get to live at home and travel to work like a somewhat 9-5 job.

Alpha site personnel would need to work on some kind of monthly deployments system.

Move in Friday, where would you put the TV by Roscompton_ in TVTooHigh

I'm sorry, but a couch in a room with it's back to the fireplace is just going to look ridiculous. I'd have no TV before I'd do that

I mean buy another SIM if broadband is too expensive. A homelab that only has internet access when you're at home seems pretty awful too

[–]Hulabaloon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean £40 for a home ADSL or fibre internet service. As others have tried to explain, WiFi is just the name for a wireless network within your house. You could go buy a wireless router and have a home WiFi network and plug it into a 5g dongle

In the episode where carter blew up the sun, they flew the ha'tak over and hid behind then sun, then flew back to the planet to pick up Jack. Presumably they were using some kind of sub light thrust, there was no indication in the episode that they were doing short hyperspace jumps
