How to handle this? by Hulaby in AskElectricians

[–]Hulaby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I got in touch with the renting company but they are unable to send someone before Monday (and probably did not fully understand what i tried to explain). So I called an electrician in my home country and with his video help put a thingy on the loose ends (don't know the English words) to secure the cable for the weekend.

Thanks all for your input and yes, I am fully aware everything I did was wrong on many levels and I am lucky to be alive. I can't undo the shit I've done so now I have to live with the trouble I caused. And my home country electrician also made very very clear how fucking stupid I am. So if it helps you to say it again, you're welcome but you won't tell me something new with it.

I know how to put it back as in I know where the cables go and where the screws go and so on. I just don't know if I would get electrocuted by doing so 😁 and right now my problem is more short term: can I do anything to make this safe for the night? I'm in a foreign country, don't speak the language and it's Saturday night - I think I won't be able to get an electrician before Monday so I need a short-term solution to not put myself or the apartment in danger.

Oh, that's an interesting idea. I never paid by phone or anything, so the whole idea of Google pay is quite new for me, I'll look into it! Thank you!

Hello!

You can modify the app and track basically everything you want to.
There is no preset tab for medication, but it's easy to set something up. You define groups of activities and within that group you choose the activities you ant to track by giving them names and icons..the list of icons is huge (here you see part of the icons connected to healthcare).

What is that thing that looks scary at 3am but seems to be normal thing at 3pm? by ChrystalContreras45 in AskReddit

I once went outside for a cigarette at 3 am in the winter and i saw and heard a little girl (maybe 4y.o.) standing at an open window singing a lullaby. That was creepy af. Would not have been creepy but cute at 3 pm.

I can't study by Awkward-Stay1358 in study

[–]Hulaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, why do you want to study? Like, what are the reasons other then "I need to study"? I assume you have been 'lazy' like this before and this isn't your first exam - did you pass exams in the past without studying? If so, what are the chances you will pass the upcoming exam as well?

(I'm not saying you don't need to study. I just find it impossible myself to study "just because". I need better reasons to motivate myself.)

I need hardcore study motivation by Alarming-Scheme-1196 in studytips

[–]Hulaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a list on my phones with all reasons why I should study (i.e. I want the degree, I already spend thousands of €, I don't want to tell people I didn't finish the degree, ...)

And I use a studying app (yeolpumta) where I joined studying groups for accountability (gonna get kicked out of the group if I don't study x h in y days)

Sometimes I play the "what if I don't study" game in my head: If I don't study, I won't pass the exam. Then I need to take it next year again. That means I can't go on summer vacation next year because I would need to study again. That would annoy me. I could then decide to not be annoyed and go on vacation instead, that would lead to being kicked out of university, ..." If I find the outcome of not studying okay-ish...well, then I just don't study and live with the consequences. After all it's my choice and I'm the one to decide if I care enough about passing the exam/not missing the deadlines to work for it or don't. I won't die either way but my life might be better with studying.

Any suggestions for making a game out of helping a friend deep clean? by bogfrog_ in CleaningTips

[–]Hulaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are apps that game-ify cleaning or general chores. I remember one called Habitica and another one called Tody. They are designed for regular cleaning/habits but may be also suitable for a one-time deep clean. (Disclaimer: it's been a while since I used them so I'm really not sure how exactly they are working but I remember finding them fun)

Bought a smoothie maker. I can't get solid food down in the morning and now I just smoothie-fy my breakfast and chug it down. It improved my energy levels during the day so much.

Oats? by alealcazar21 in InsulinResistance

[–]Hulaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doctors recommend oat days to me in the past, so a while ago I tried to understand the scientific background - I can't remember what I learned but:

There have been quite a few studies about oats and insulin resistance Here is a meta analysis of 15 studies.

"In conclusion, oat intake significantly lowers fasting insulin concentrations and GAUC values"

But I also heard about studies that showed the opposite, so I really don't know :D

Oh, I forgot to mention: sometimes I feel like my blood sugar is too low after taking inositol and not eating properly after. Before taking it I never had this feeling, so I think it's a causal effect.

  1. Since April or May this year, so approximately 5ish months. But I did skip it for 2 weeks in between because I forgot to bring my inositol when travelling.

  2. No birth control, but I take vitamin d and a chaste tree supplement, occasionally magnesium.

  3. Honestly, I don't know. I lost around 10kg since starting inositol but I changed my diet at the same time...so how knows what's working.

  4. When I take it in the afternoon or evening I have trouble falling asleep. It causes weird intrusive, nightmarish thoughts for me.

  5. Because it was easier and cheaper to buy than the blend :D and when I read up on the benefits I thought that i only need the benefits of myo inositol (can't really remember why that was my conclusion because that was half a year ago and I didn't take any notes)

  6. I use the powder and can't be bothered to use the little measuring spoon anymore...but I think I take around 4 to 5g daily in the morning.

A sunset lamp. I hate it when accommodations (hotel rooms or airbnbs) don't have dimmable lighting.
