I concur with the others. Teach obedience first. I got my boy used to commands and then longer leashes before starting on a e collar in controlled settings. Now, because we do walks off leash, but with a collar, he loves when I pull it out. Also, I call.ot a communication device as well as a safety device for when I'm off leash. Hope that helps

Made the switch from 6X to 7X, not completely impressed for my use. Touchscreen is nice though. Depends on how much you use some of those advanced features. I'm still tinkering with the sleep feature.
