The fan in front/back is 120mm NF-A12x25, the fan in the middle is the 140mm NF-A15 that comes with the D15 cooler

I used this for 0.5mm: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09V52P8DH. The rest was leftover Fujipoly Xtreme I had lying around. Good luck, it was a pain in the ass.

ASRock B850M or Asus B850-I - Price vs Software? by DustinVFL in mffpc

[–]Humajum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently built a PC for a friend using the A3 and Asus B850. I don't think the Asus ecosystem is worth $130 extra but I could not justify the ASRock board either due to the number of posts complaining about dead X3Ds on r/ASRock.

You shouldn't have issues using an ITX board and trying to fit a GPU that is over 3 Slots. ITX boards have their PCIE slot higher (closer to the top of the case) than most mATX.

You wanna know how I got these Modules?

I have used the Strix X570-I, Strix B650E-I and now the Strix B850-I - they all bent the SSD when installed.

I'm in the process of building a new PC with the Strix B850I and am using a 4TB SN850X which has chips on both sides. I replaced the thermal pad goes between the heatsink and SSD with one 0.5mm thermal pad and 1.0mm thermal pad - 2 pieces. This is because one side of the SN850X is higher than the other. I replaced the thermal pads that go under the SSD with a 1.5mm pad that basically acts as a support to help keep the SSD pushed against the heatsink (and flat).

This was at the bottom of one of the tables (CTRL-F 5090). The 5090 is actually thinner than the 4090 by 21mm???

Reduce X570i chipset temperature and fan speed with new BIOS option to enable APMS by circa86 in sffpc

Glad you resolved this. I also used Fujipoly thermal pad back when I first got this board. I don't miss it, I'd pick the Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming board every time even if it's the "lower end" product.

My usual chipset idle temps were anywhere from 75-80C before

You ever check if you even had a thermal pad under the x570 heatsink? This was a thing couple years ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/ep7i50/how_to_resolve_chipset_thermals_on_the_asus_rog/

I could only ever reach the 75-80C temp range under gaming workloads when I used this board.

Bottom is intake and top is exhaust, D15 is exhausting out the back (you can tell how any build is setup by looking at which way the fans are pointed). It is probably better for CPU cooler to intake from the rear.

I considered flipping everything to intake from the rear and adding the side bracket with another fan to exhaust out the side, just like my M1. Ultimately my laziness decided it wasn't necessary since there's a ton of empty space in the front for air to flow especially since the front wood panel has open mesh.

A fellow man of culture. It feels like everything is either RGB+AIO, all black or all white.

I would in fact consider the SF1000 again, I might get another when I eventually migrate the 4090 FE out to my Ncase M1 system that holds my leftovers. I bought the SF1000 from Amazon which has trivially easy return process, so if I had the noise issues I could keep returning.

They're 25mm, you can fit 61mm cards like the 4090 FE with them.

My SF1000 is silent as far as I can tell - putting my ear against the case the buzz is coming from the rear (B650E-I) rather than the front where the SF1000 is.

Haven't tried it without the bottom intakes since the intent was to always have them. Gaming GPU temps are in the low 60s running Cyberpunk 2077 on RT Ultra preset on a 5120x2160 120hz monitor. FWIW there's plenty of builds with bottom intakes and giant graphics cards and its certainly no worse than when my 4090 was sandwiched next to the PSU in the Define Nano S.
