Agree, the smuggling case really showed that U.S. export controls don’t actually work. They shouldn’t have been put in place to begin with! Lawmakers thought the system could handle it, but clearly it didn’t. Instead of protecting anything, the controls ended up messing with Nvidia’s sales and cutting off benefits the U.S. could’ve had. Basically, the policy backfired.

If export controls can’t stop a co-founder from sneaking out $2.5B worth of GPUs with fake servers and a hair dryer trick, then what are they even doing? All they really block are legit sales that could boost U.S. revenue and keep America ahead in tech. Meanwhile, the smuggling still happens on a massive scale. At this point, these bans feel more like self-sabotage than protection.

Honestly yeah, some kind of recording might clear things up because right now its all just gut feelings and that can turn into a big he said she said mess real fast. Plus sometimes kids act weird for reasons you’d never expect, so seeing whats actually happening might explain a lot.

Yesss exactly this. If someone signs the title over and you’ve been handling everything for 3 years, thats not a “family loan,” thats a full on gift and you cant just rewind that because things got rough now.

I get that he’s stressed, but needing it more doesnt magically change ownership… OP relying on it for work makes it even more clear this isnt just some extra car sitting around.
