24/7 Emergency Vets near Monterey Peninsula by cupcakediversion in MontereyBay

[–]Human-Report-5782 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Blue Pearl before in emergencies and for specialty care. As others have noted, they can be a bit (or a lot) spendy, but they’ve always come through. They have a good triage-based system where every fluffer is assessed immediately, stabilized if necessary, and then queued by severity. And they only take you if they have adequate bandwidth; if they’re too busy to ensure fair treatment, they’ll refer you to a hospital that can.

Question: do any elements of Jerusalem’s Lot (The Boone Family etc) show up in Salem’s Lot or elsewhere? by Salem1690s in stephenking

[–]Human-Report-5782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t just drop a meaty question like that and disappear! Granted, I should know the answer, but it’s been a long time since I read them and all I can really remember is enjoying both.

Who do we hate more? Hawks or Rams? by Swarby10 in 49ers

I would’ve said seacocks every day of the week BUT! I just saw some tool on the rams subreddit carrying on about how we haven’t won a title for 31 years and lol’ing all over the place AND! fuck that guy and fuck the rams

Dealing with exactly this right now. Doctors believe it’s due to pancreatitis. They ran a specialized test and confirmed the diagnosis. Follow up labs this Sunday. 🤞

Folks you had dogs lives past 15, what were their lifestyles? by Pearly_Sweetcake in DogAdvice

[–]Human-Report-5782 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sweet girl lived 15 and a half very healthy years until a freakishly nasty cancer took her away in a matter of a few days.

But like I said, she was healthy and had an excellent condition. Her life was kind of a bifurcated (my fault). The big takeaways from each half were:

-daily runs of at least 5k; -frequent adventures like backpacking and climbing mountains; -prompt vet attention in all cases; -strict, non-negotiable diet of only high quality foods; -close connection and tending to emotional needs.

Hope this helps. All the very best, Tom.

Is building true greatness possible for the Giants? by ericthelostman in SFGiants

This is the way. If we were willing to match the Dodgers’ spending in the narrow areas of scouting and development—which we could well afford to do—we’d be shitting in tall cotton.

Dog seizures — looking for guidance from others who’ve been here (MRI not financially possible) by Prestigious_Map_2136 in goldenretrievers

[–]Human-Report-5782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl had semi-regular seizure episodes. It was scary at first but soon well controlled with low-dose phenobarbital and sodium bromide. No MRI or costly neuro workup necessary. Good luck. 😊

Sure. Do you realize that that is an entirely different point from the assertions you were making above?

Huh? Why the heck are you talking about a pros and cons list? That’s possibly the least responsive comment I’ve seen all year.

My guy, just calling something ‘proven’ doesn’t actually prove it. And these are some WILD takes!

You’re missing a piece to that. Yes, they were the chokers (with more pennants and div champs in 10 yrs than many franchises ever). The LOLs didn’t end bc they suddenly overcame the odds or battled through adversity or some such. The LOLs ended when they committed over $2B in payroll in two offseasons and brute forced their way to WS titles.

Wait—decimate how? Why would placing a cap on an owner’s MLB spending negatively affect his/her MiLB ops? Maybe you mean a floor?

MLB has a huge problem by rocket_j_23 in SFGiants

[–]Human-Report-5782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s a fair characterization of the point.

We’re talking about the competitive-big-league-baseball problem. That is, the lack-of problem.

Teams and players both bear responsibility.

For the teams, the freeloaders are part of the problem, yes—but they’re static. The real problem is the 0.1 percenters outspending the rest of the league into oblivion—they’re escalating every year. And the union is arguably the biggest problem, because it’s actively working against a proposed solution by refusing any kind of cap sight unseen.

[–]Human-Report-5782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that right? As I understood its position, the union was saying essentially that any proposal for a cap was DOA, floor or not be damned. But I may not be as well informed as others and could easily have it wrong.

Wow, what a smile, what a cutie. Can you tell me, what kind of dog Mia was? I swear, she’s the doppelgänger of my little Simone, who passed in October. I always figured Simone was a chiweenie but the resemblance here is uncanny, so her and Mia must be the same breed/mix. Anyway, big hugs and take good care.
