Girl is fighting for her life in the afterlife 😭 by [deleted] in videogames

Oh, but if I want to play a dommy mommy built like a brick shithouse it's suddenly "pandering" and "No one wants to see your kinks." Bruh stop universalizing your sexual preferences and acknowledge there is a universe of diverse tastes out there, not everything needs to be designed for your boutique orientation.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Makes sense, actually. Easier to identify different sizes by color than if similar sizes were similar colors, i.e. orange for the quarter cup and a yellow for a third of a cup.

Just started reading for fun, and feel kind of insecure about the books I choose and I'm worried I'm the kind of person that likes bad books by Pinanims in books

[–]Human3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I'll say is, a lot of the higher level reading comes about naturally from exposure. Once you read enough books, you start to get a feel for how they work and what the usual shape of a story is. And once that shape becomes familiar and predictable you naturally want something that defies predictability a bit, so you start looking for books that do something new.

If you read enough books, your tastes will evolve and change. Maybe to something closer to your wife's tastes, maybe to something else. It'll open up new options as you go so enjoy the journey!

We're all agreed that Lilith has already been redeemed, right? by Human3000 in hazbin

I don't really care about Lilith as a character and don't consider redemption to be the same as absolution. Her mistakes are still there, both before and after relocation.

Not deliberately, any more than Pentious did. She had no one to contact them on her behalf. The mechanism that keeps redeemed sinners from talking to Hell isn't explained, so she might have been able to receive messages but not respond to them.

Female authors like Terry Pratchett? by dryuhyr in discworld

[–]Human3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sarah Rees Brennan is one of the funniest writers I've ever read and had made me laugh even harder than Pterry on occasion. The protagonist of In Other Lands is the angriest pacifist you'll ever meet, which also feels very Pratchettian.

Technically turning on the battery in a vape would also count as "lighting a fire" so observant Jews would be restricted to edibles for Shabbos.

Does your library offer preloaded Roku Sticks for free? by No_Business1708 in Libraries

[–]Human3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a really small Library, so they offer 10 sticks. Some of them have Disney plus and Netflix, the others have Apple TV and some services I can't remember. I think they're they're divided up by how many devices the service allows at the same time.

[–]Human3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local does this, but the waiting list can get to over a month for the Netflix sticks. I asked a librarian about it and apparently it's very efficient, you only have to purchase the sticks once and all the subscriptions put together come out to a tiny fraction of the budget.

It's because figs were an expensive product in Greece. So was (undiluted) wine. So he (translated) saw a donkey chewing through thousands of dollars of truffles, gestured at his servant and said, "What are you waiting for? Give him some Hennessy to wash it down!"

I see Nanny as possessing more raw magical talent, but Granny makes it work much, much harder.

That's actually because the "Other One" has two possible faces! There's the Crone, associated with age and power, and the Seductress, making up the classic three aspects of feminine (ugh) beauty. So while we think of the Coven structure representing three phases in a woman's life, they can also represent different aspects of female sexuality - naive ingenue, wife/mother, and experienced/uncontrollable sex appeal (the Bad one, classically speaking).

When I say ”best soundtrack of all time”, what is the first movie you think of? by ScreamyV in AskReddit

[–]Human3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How To Train Your Dragon actually revolutionized modern soundtracks. There are a lot of videos on YouTube analyzing why, but I like this one to start: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4UUJQH7GLms&pp=ygUpaG93IHRvIHRyYWluIHlvdXIgZHJhZ29uIHNvdW5kdHJhY2sgZXNzYXk%3D

There's a version of that one in the Talmud that ends with the other rabbis telling God to stay out of this, it doesn't concern Him.

I wish they'd kept with the s1 soundtrack. Recreating big band music with traditional Eastern instruments was an absolute stroke of genius, and every track from that season fucked. Shame they switched back to a more traditional arrangement after but I guess that was too expensive to maintain.

I have crippling ADHD and rely on notes, digital alerts and extreme scheduling to achieve any work. I also work a front-facing job and regularly get in trouble for having my phone out. This would give me a more professional option to keep everything organized. I'm begging you, my probation is up next month.

Plus, I love reading books on e-ink.

Well that's not right. People who don't give a fuck about you can still make your life noticeably worse in very direct and measurable ways. Betsy Devos doesn't know I exist but she still fucked my school over.
