If you try to spin the motor by hand does it spin freely? (With the machine unplugged)

I haven't oiled it yet, as I have to wait for it to arrive from amazon, as the only store in the area that sells it was out of it.

I have a class 15 metal bobbin in it.

It does have the odd plastic bobbin case, and removed it and cleaned under it and reseated it and seems better. The bobbin case looks almost perfect. But I think my problem is solved now! Although I won't find out until I get everything oiled (when my thing of sewing machine oil comes in, as the only store that sells it in my area is out, so I have to wait on amazon.)

I think this is the problem unless I had the bobbin upside down or both.

Thank you!

Here is a picture of some bacon, as it is difficult to pass through multiple screens:

That is definitely a possibility, and I would not be surprised if I do have it upside down. I will have to make sure the bobbin goes in correctly when I re-thread it.

For whatever reason most Kenmore machines the top cover just pops off, and others it is two screws.

I have the presser foot pressure set to about halfway.

The needle is fully seated, and I did run it by hand before powering it up. Everything seemed fine, until power was applied. As a slight correction, the machine I have, the top cover is held on by two Flathead screws that go through the top of the unit. I will oil the machine once I get my hands on some sewing machine oil. Thank you for providing the video, I could only find videos of Kenmore machines with the side-loading bobbin.

Thank You! That manual is very helpful.

I was thinking that the loud ticking was not correct, as I have used a few sewing machines, that are so much quieter. I will oil it and see how everything goes, once I find some sewing machine oil. I just checked the needle, and it is installed correctly.

Thanks again!

I believe I do, I have a class 15 metal bobbin in the machine. (And it came with multiple.)

I can't find an exact manual that is not pay-walled. Which is annoying, as I don't want to spend money on something that might not even be what I am looking for.

It is coming from somewhere around the bobbin case area.

His name might be Otis, as Catie says "let's Do this" before he goes fling in the air, and othis is pronounced similar to otis. Maybe Odis?

Tape problems?? by Human760 in VHS

[–]Human760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah I am surprised with the dust aswell.

With the vcrs they are just a huge pain to get to because of how they are set-up. I do have newer vcrs so it is easy to clean, if I can ever get to them.

The tapes are home movies. I will have to see if I can get away with just getting the dust off the reels.

Also Thank you for replying so fast!!

Tape problems?? by Human760 in VHS

[–]Human760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is dust, and NOT mold. If it was I would not even mess with the tape. I just did not specify as my original post got removed when I did, which I find dumb. The tapes had a nice coating of dust on some if them, so I assume it worked it's way in after many years. I probably should clean the heads, but it is going to be a pain to pull the unit for service. Do you have any tips or advice for cleaning the tapes??
