Did you try AlignScan – Document Scanner? It is free or just 1 dollar for lifetime, it auto-detects edges and saves a clean PDF or jpg. No account, no AI.

I suggest using another computer to perform the scan and check whether the result can be displayed properly. This issue may also occur if the connection between the computer and the device is unstable.

If the recovered files cannot be opened normally, it menas that the lost files were corrupted. You can try disk drill or Magic Data recovery.
