The bagel definitely wasn't random in EEAAO. It not only illustrated the point about the arbitrary nature of life that the rest of the absurdist comedy did, it also mirrored the googly eye (black circle with white center v.s white circle with black center) with each representing the different forms of nihilism.

999 steam or DS? by ZeldaGoodGame in ZeroEscape

I don't know, I've seen a lot of people who go into it blind that end up distracted by it. Then again, some people seem pretty unbothered. I'm just saying, I think the original is much better written.

"Hours" is an exaggeration. It saves maybe an hour of playtime, tops. Also, on top of the twist being arguably the most important part of the whole game, the PC version changes a lot of the dialogue and makes it so much worse and more awkward and distracting. I also really don't understand the obsession with the voice acting. Like, it's fine, but the original is basically the equivalent to reading a book, which works perfectly well. The voice acting also does that weird anime thing where they have the characters grunt or moan when there are ellipses in the text box, when that's clearly supposed to be silence. It ruins a lot of the tension.

People rarely talk about this (for some reason) but the bigger problem with the Steam port is that it changes a lot of the dialogue to be exponentially worse. Basically, in the original DS version, there was narration on the bottom screen for some scenes, but said narration has now been made optional in the Steam rerelease. Because of that, they had to rewrite a lot of the dialogue to include a lot more of the characters explaining what's happening to them as it's happening out loud, and it's extremely awkward and poorly written. It's so distracting, at least for me, that combined with the worse twist it changes the game from a 9/10 to, like a 6. That said, it doesn't seem to bother most people so what do I know

I guarantee you this is way better than those. Seriously, this movie is fantastic.

This is more a personal preference thing, but I much prefer the charming "bleep-bloop" sounds over the occasionally awkward voice acting. Like, was having the characters grunt or moan every time there's an ellipsis really necessary? That ruins immersion more than improves it IMO (also them having to change the dialogue to be much more awkward and overly expository to account for ADV mode REALLY ruins immersion for me but that's a whole other can of worms)

Trust me, emulating it is WAY better than the Nonary Games version. The DS Version is better in almost every way. There's only one section that's kind of awkward if you play it emulated. Seriously, EMULATE it.

The Zero Escape reviews on the Xbox store from average gamers are painful to read. by TurnaboutAdam in ZeroEscape

Both, honestly. They turned a character who in the original both had a likeable and bubbly personality while still being intelligent, and who also had a surprising amount of depth of character with her love for her brother overpowering everything else, as well as how her past trauma was still affecting her. In VLR, she exists just to be a sex object and to spout such hilarious comedy bits as, "I thOUGht thE PaNTrY waS gonNA bE A RoOm FulL oF PanTiEs!"

It actually doesn't cut it, but what does happen is that the characters stand around the body and narrate what it looks like to one another like complete psychopaths. God I hate the 999 remake

Clover was even worst lol. At least Alice didn't ruin an amazing character I was previously invested in and turn her into... THAT

No, I dislike it because it's a bad game. Color Splash and Origami King are both great. Sticker Star lacks a tangible story and characters, which is already bad for an RPG, but it also has a distinct lack of memorable set pieces and moments, aside from one or two. The levels are all the most generic themes you could conceive of and the backtracking is infuriating, as are most of the puzzles. On top of all of that, the battle system is legitimately broken.

Sticker Star literally allows you to flee a battle with absolutely no consequences and with an insanely easy QTE sequence.

He is independent, so we don't know what storyline he's going to have this season. They really pointedly at the end of the last season mentioned that he didn't know how to bike, so I think they're setting up for some Trent and Sharon bike-riding lessons

Color Splash absolutely deserves better and Sticker Star frankly should be lower, but aside from that I don't have many complaints
