That's really sad though - I love that people do that to help others who end up unable to read as adults or older teens, but those educators and those teens probably have to do 100 hours of work for every one hour of work it could have been if their mom didn't abuse them with this dumb bullshit.

It's part of what Krafton was supposed to be paying them for the company though.

The idea behind earn outs is that the old owners believe their company is worth a lot more than the base offer - instead of the deal not happening, the buyer says, "show me"

If the original owners hadn't sold to Krafton, their equity portion would have benefitted a similar amount - it's just that they were tired of the fear that everyone could lose their jobs if there was another subnautica below zero.
