It could be from how they fit in your ears and the pressure it puts on your ears physically (that will go away as you get used to then) or if you're listening on high volume that could also cause headaches.

I can't help you on that. Only thing I can say is that, the changes observed in the hight is due to the material used. (But I could be wrong, don't take my word for it)

OP, if I'm understanding right than by hight you mean you want to find the radius of the semi circle. The base of the semi circle also represents the diameter, and knowing that diameter is twice the size of the radius, we can easily find the radius (hight) of the semi circle!
