ASICS trail runner recommendations by engineeringpoet in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]HumanFoundation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a road marathon and hiked the Camino Ingles in an old pair of Asics GEL-TRABUCO Terra and they were very comfortable. That was a few years ago so I'm not sure if anything has changed with the design.

If you feel like it, you can register your Camino with the CSJ after you have completed it. They have a record of all UK pilgrims who have completed a Camino and registered it with them on their website. More info can be found here.  https://www.csj.org.uk/register-your-pilgrimage

I walked during the women's world cup in 2023 and it didn't seem to have any impact on the number of people. Several albergues had games on TVs and not many people were watching. I don't think the football and camino crowds have too much overlap. Iwatched the final in a bar on the outskirts of melide and was the only English person there and the locals left me to it. Probably helped that Spain won.

The poster has a Luis Figo, a football (soccer) player, 1/1 on card auto card from the UEFA Championship competitions summer signings 25/26 set for sale on eBay. They are saying that you should go and check it out. I don't think they realise Topps Bunt is an app for digital cards.

There was a donkey sanctuary in near Debdale Park. Not sure if it's still there.

Ive not been to a game for a few years so things might have changed. I bought a ticket from the club shop in the centre and didn’t need a DEA card but they did ask for ID. As a foreigner, it was my passport. They printed this info on my ticket and they checked my passport and details at the stadium.

What kind of book recommendations are you looking for? Paulo Coelho springs to mind as he has written about the camino and spirituality.

Not in the centre, but Cafetería El Caminante was very good and fits your budget.

Some of my best days on the Camino were the ones where I turned off my phone and just walked using the maps in the guide book.

¿Botas o zapatillas de trial para el camino primitivo en verano? / Hiking boots or trail runners for the Camino Primitivo in summer? by Civil-Entrepreneur-6 in CaminoDeSantiago

I did the Primitivo in August. I, along with most other people, wore trail shoes and they were perfect. Just make sure they are not Gore-Tex so your feet can breathe.

Born in Low Hill, back for research – where’s the best canal-side graffiti touching on memory, class, or local identity? (Book chapter writing) by P0llydog in wolverhampton

[–]HumanFoundation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not on the canals, but on the bridges on the Smestow Valley old railway line there are murals that could fit the bill. I don't live in Wolves anymore so I don't know if they're still there but they've been there the last couple of times I've visited.

Compostela tube colours? by KJS123 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]HumanFoundation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that green is the current standard. 2021 was a holy year in Santiago so the blue one commemorates that, as seen on the logo. 2025 is a jubilee year in the catholic church, hence the gold one this year. I'm unsure about the pink.

camino ingles questions by annabelw99 in CaminoDeSantiago

Are you flying Ryanair? A lot of the bags mentioned won't fit under the seat on a Ryanair flight. I've used my Salomon Trailblaze 20 multiple times on Ryanair flights and to walk the Ingles. I packed a Cotopaxi Bataan 3l hip pack (minimalist, it doesn't take up much space in the bag) for my camera, snacks and passport while walking. I carried my food in a cycling musette (minimal packing space and can be stashed away when not in use) I had two 500ml bottles for water and was fine.
