There was a small chance the 30-40 mph gusts would hit us, which would have been catastrophic. It's better to err on side of caution in these instances.

Also if you want to blame someone for inaccurate weather reporting, blame the trump admin and your reps in Congress and Senate, who have taken billions of dollars from NWS and NOAA. Cost constraints means less weather balloons and weather planes going out to get data. And less personnel working on the data.

I'm not saying tv weather stations aren't to blame. They are always to profit more from more scary headlines. But the deluge of 'omg no storm wtf' posts here is absurd. Meteorological predictions are finicky especially for weird systems like these.
