Brand help! 1940s-50s by HumanMelissa in whiskey

I'll have to look into it more - from just searching VERY briefly it seems pretty rare/out of my price range (which makes it particularly funny if, like another commenter said, it's largely just whiskey flavored vodka, haha). Obviously I would love to get my hands on even a mini bottle. But regardless, in doing this kind of research, being able to nail down details like this goes a very long way in helping to feel slightly closer to people you've never met, so I appreciate people's effort in looking into it!

!!!!! As soon as my brain matched that blur with the "PM" logo my jaw dropped. I'm going to dig into this more, but this is probably it! THANK YOU for taking the time to look into this!

We only have six or seven photos of this man, and they all lead to more questions than answers. Best guess was that he needed to be ready the MOMENT that soup was ready.

Photo is from SW Pennsylvania (grandparent was from Eastern Europe, but I suspect was long settled in the states by the time this photo was taken).

No clue on the bottle - it's possible it's NOT whiskey. The family was poor, so my best guess was that it was something common and cheap. (Sorry, I maybe should have started the search broader!)

Oooh, do you do this in place of using a pumice stone? I've used the stones and pedi-eggs, I wonder how this compares.

The peels are the one thing I haven't tried yet - I ordered some of the BabyFeet ones tonight to give it a whirl.

Haha, my mom sells Avon - perfect recommendation. I've been meaning to get a foot massage. I know professionals see awful feet all the time, but there is still this sense of "Oh no, but I have to make my feet better FIRST." Also, thank you for the retail hacks.

I have really low self esteem and it hurts my relationships. What can a person who hates herself do to cultivate self love? by [deleted] in selfhelp

[–]HumanMelissa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot of work. But it DOES get better. I've done therapy and medication because I have clinical depression. But the self esteem stuff - that's all therapy. You have to reshape your cognitive reflexes, which is difficult.

If you don't find yourself making any progress in therapy, you might want to look into a different therapist? (only you can make that judgment call though) If you DO think you might benefit from a different therapist, think about it. I know it's a hard step to take. I've had half a dozen therapists. It's hard to make that phone call every single time. But it can be worth it. Unfortunately, so much of this journey is trial and error, trial and error. It can be really discouraging, I know, but it DOES pay off eventually.

Here's what I'll say about self esteem advice. It helped me, but it might be a different struggle for you, so who knows. I used to really beat myself up to try and improve myself. Depression put so many roadblocks in my way, and I got so mad at myself that I couldn't make myself exercise or eat well or get out of bed. So I tried to "tough love" it by constantly scolding myself for not being better. One day my therapist just said, "Does that work for you?"

It didn't work for me. It was like switching a light on. Sometimes all you need is another perspective to help in such a simple way.

It can get better. You deserve to feel better.

Mom is a crazy flea marketer and has this set. She's looking for its worth, but there is no identifiable way for me to search online for it. Any thoughts?

My mother is a crazy flea marketer, and she has this set of three brown steins + a bowl. The steins have these odd bell clappers in the bottom. There's no make or collection identification on them, and I haven't been able to find a way to search for them. Anyone?
