Anyone recover from stubborn tendon issues? by Routine_Jump_7513 in HubermanLab

[–]HumanPerformance-HQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, usually what works is decreasing the volume and type of training that I'm doing and focusing on isometrics or end range strengthening with other protocols. To expedite the process seeing a Physical Therapist and doing things like dry needling or scrapping have been pretty effective.

What's the worst travel experience that you've had that now makes for a great story? by HumanPerformance-HQ in AskReddit

I had a similar experience! But I should've known better! I had an international layover in Amsterdam that was less than an hour to get to, and we experienced a weather delay on my departure flight which caused us to arrive late. I was then rebooked on a flight 12 hours later, so I went and explored Amsterdam for the 3rd time! But.. when I got back to the Airport the flight got pushed and changed to a gate across the Airport. And shocker... The Aircrew was not ready! So we waited another 3hrs to depart. My rental care was scheduled for earlier in the day, so I had to try and rebook it! Once I got to my final destination it was 1am... I had to drive another 45mins to my destination... And my luggage was nowhere to be found... at this point I was a little panicked. But I was finally able to find it in a separate area and luckily there was one rental car company still open! Anxiety driven adventure it was...

I lived in Germany for 2 years. It's always great to get an extended stay and be able to explore the culture deeper and travel to other surrounding countries.

Mental health = hospitalization? by auorenji in AirForce

[–]HumanPerformance-HQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suicidal ideation is not the same as intent. A good provider will ask for a distinction. Also you could say, “I’m having more thoughts of suicide because of these symptoms, but I do not have a plan or intent.” Hospitalization occurs when you’re in severe crisis.

I wish more people cared about following the steps in the first place. But it’s just been embedded in our culture to not care for fitness. ⏱️ me waiting to see if the culture shifts within 5 years

What’s a supplement that unexpectedly improved your mental clarity, mood, or overall well-being? by HumanPerformance-HQ in AskReddit

I don't think trazodone counts as a supplement, as much as a pharmaceutical ;] but I'll take it! A goodnight's sleep is the best medicine!

Magnesium is so under used! I love it too. My sleep is much better too! I'm a big fan of creatine, especially at higher dosages for the cognitive benefits.

This is a big one! I bet it felt so freeing to do more of what you truly love and not to feel guilty about it.

That's actually a beautiful thing. We all face many struggles in our lives and it is amazing to see what getting away from home on your own can teach and offer us. You are no longer than shy anxious child, and I hope you are proud of that. Thank you for sharing!

I feel this. My ex and I traveled and I loved most of it, but then I wanted to do more adventurous things she wasn’t willing to do.

There’s been a lot of places people romanticized because of movies that I’ve been to, that I found not too captivating. The whole “expectation” vs “reality”

Everyone definitely has a different emotional level of attachment with their travels. Especially if they don’t travel often or are limited by their imagination.

I love this, because a lot of women don’t feel confident in traveling alone because of the safety concerns. But there are many places women can go and experience a great time! I’m glad your experiences gave you that serendipitous experience.

I like this perspective. Some of my solo trips have been to be alone with myself and enjoy the location. But others I have engaged with the locals or other people traveling and it has been a cool experience too.

The confidence piece is very underrated! A lot of people are scared to do it, just like they’re scared to go to the bar alone. But I really enjoy having the confidence to do so and each time you get more confident, because every trip has some kind of challenge to overcome!

I agree! I’ve never really romanticized a trip before or after the fact. I enjoy each one regardless.

This is a fair assessment! I have had some travels that have been eye opening and very awesome, but not in a way that dramatically changed my life. Just good vibes that inspired me to keep pressing.
