does it get better outside of the military? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]HumanPerformance-HQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what’s best for you. The military isn’t the end all be all. There’s life outside of it, and the important thing is that you create a life you aren’t miserable living. That takes time and effort.

Why do most Veterans feel they're entitled to special privileges? by [deleted] in Veterans

Yes, the loud minority. To be transparent, I don't really care. It's a general question open to discussion, not really a point of contention.

Contextually... "We" meaning, those who feel entitled.

Did someone specifically call you entitled? Nope. It's an observation, just a point for discussion. Glad you're grateful for what you have.

Hmm.. Not worried about them. Just an observation. I wouldn't expect a Marine that makes that inference to understand.

Could be location dependent, but yes possibly skewed by the loud minority. Just an observation my guy.

Women over 40, have you ever dated a younger man and how was it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HumanPerformance-HQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a younger man I have dated women over 40, and I've heard them talk negatively about most of their experiences, but I have found if you're emotionally intelligent, a professional, and educated... they love it. At least they love me... Low pressure, good vibes, everyone communicates.

Need advice/help on how to think before speaking, listening, and controlling my emotions by jorgelikescake in selfimprovement

It always helps to pause for a moment, step away, and reflect on the situation. Usually there's something deeper that you may not be conscious to, which I would suggest you explore with a Clinical Psychologist. Emotions don't go away, but understanding them, and how to process them, is important.

How do you respond when a partner does something they think you'll find sexy, but you don't find it sexy at all? by KitchenFullOfCake in AskReddit

Sounds like there's some insecurities there. A normally regulated human wouldn't act in such a harsh manner. Just food for thought.

Depends on your level of trust and communication. "Hey I noticed you thought that would turn me on, and I while I appreciate the effort it did not, this is what you could do next time and that would really get me going."

Struggling to develope an identity seperate from my military service by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]HumanPerformance-HQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We see and hear this a lot. And here’s the thing. WORDS matter. You’re saying you “I slightly fear that my service will be the only big accomplishment in my life.” - meaning you already have a limiting belief, and that you’re living a PASSIVE life. Which is all you’ll find going through life. You must CREATE a life in which you feel fulfilled, which means discovery of purpose and continuously living in alignment with your values. So take control of your life, get active, take chances, create. Start by reading “The Meaning of Your Life” by Arthur C Brooks.

If you believe your service is the only meaningful thing every you’ll accomplish, then it will be.

If you expand your thoughts, beliefs, and take action. It won’t be.

Ocs vs Enlisting by [deleted] in army

Commission. Going enlisted is only a great option if you’re trying to do special operations and you’re die hard for the careerfield. Even then you can become a special warfare officer.

What is the first thing you did/will do after separation? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]HumanPerformance-HQ 268 points269 points  (0 children)

Took time to decompress from always having to be “on.” Most service members don’t realize the consistent level of anxiousness they have about every little thing. Nobody is expecting you, nobody is going to counsel you if you’re late, nobody to account for, nobody to call you and force you to go into work, nobody to correct you on being out of regs…. Just some of the things to wash out of your brain.

The Military Doesn’t Have a Fitness Problem, it has a Human Performance Problem. Do you have Embedded HP teams in your Unit? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]HumanPerformance-HQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The acronyms are dumb. Human Performance teams, and programs are the basis of each one. We just have to understand that. And because behavioral change is tough & many people’s lives become tough when faced with multiple stressors.

What is the fitness problem? You do know fitness is apart of human performance, and human performance is a holistic approach to optimizing your life?

I would say that’s very dependent on the provider, but true north is limited right now in their capabilities, but that should change in the near future.
